2. Right wingers will never concede defeat. Should the...
Democratic candidate in 2008 crush the GOP candidate, they will still insist that it was not a crushing defeat, even though it was just that.

3. Paul Krugman is a great writer...
...but he is not the best TV guest for these shows. I think people like Cavuto do mop Krugman off the floor on these types of shows. Krugman has complained about the format of these types of shows, and he is right, but that is not germane to this. Even on something like Charlie Rose, Krugman is not that great. Krugman should either take some lessons from a media consultant or stick to writing. He does not know how to do TV well.

And this is from someone who went to one of his book signings, owns and has read most of his books, and reads his NY Times columns. If he's going to go on TV, why doesn't he get lessons from a media consultant? I think how working class people are being screwed economically by conservatives (and DLC Democrats!) is one of the most important messages to get out there. He understands this very well. He communictaes it well on paper, and in concise NY Times columns. Now he has to learn how to do this on TV. He has trouble with sympathetic hosts, he shouldn't go near Cavuto etc. with a ten foot pole. I think he can do better, he just needs advice like politicians do.

4. I partly agree
but he is much better than he used to be and he clearly isn't a media type I think that actually permeates his performance.

5. Interesting
You must be deliberately ignorant to think Cavuto got the better of Krugman there.

I do not agree with everything Krugman writes, but he has a point.

The economic indicators that the media love to point at do not tell the whole story. In the mid '90s, the same disparity between 'indicators' and 'reality' existed, but not as bad as it does today.

Now we have energy costs, housing, health insurance prices etc., all of which have far outpaced worker salary growth.

9. Cavuto -- wow. And I thought O'Reilly was the dumbest man on the tube.
He tells Krugman that the only reason he says the economy is bad is because Krugman hates Bush.
He calls Krugman a liar with no way to back it up.

This is a stupid man.

10. If you don't
give someone a chance to respond or interrupt them when they try to respond then by all means Cavuto mopped the floor. But the truth remains and hopefully it will be allowed to be said.

11. Why do smart people go on fox? Isn't that like black guy go to a klan rally or a hot chick
getting drunk at a frat party?

In both cases, what comes next is a foregone conclusion.

13. 'Neil Cavuto mops the floor ....', excuse me? He acted like the bonehead

....Paul Krugman repeatedly demonstrated him to be throughout the interview. This military/industrial economy which Bush/Cheney super-charged with their wars on terror, Afghanistan, Iraq and soon Iran has been super for the top 5% of income earners while the other 95% have taken it up the butt! It was Neil Cavuto who was having his own ass wiped by Krugman's responses and explanations of something all too obvious to the vast majority of Americans and that is that things are really bad for most in this economy than before Bush/Cheney came in.

16. well, the right wingers can say that till they're blue in the face
and I suppose, as someone up thread points out, if "mopping the floor" is the same as not letting your guest get a word in edgeways, then maybe there's some truth in it.

But, Krugman is still right.

Oh, what I wouldn't give to someday see someone reach across that desk, take Mr. Cavuto by his lapels, and somehow literally shove his lies right back down his throat....

17. My NEW rule for Faux News "contests" . . .
The first person (SHILLvuto) who mentions "9/11" loses. And after that, I stopped watching and the debate should have ended. This should not be used as a calling card 5 years after the fact when the middle class still has not received the corporate/upper echelon gains the shills brag about.

The layoffs started to happen BEFORE 9/11, they accelerated tenfold after that, tapered off for a brief period, but continue to happen still. Apparently, economies don't NEED American liveable wage jobs to grow, as this 6-year shitstorm nightmare has proven. NOT ONCE this year has this administration's economy achieved the numbers necessary to keep up with monthly numbers of workers going in and out of the labor force. First, the idiots at Faux supported the Bewsh economic advisor when he came out in favor of offshoring and now they're defending the jobless "recovery". Insufferable.
