Anyone else notice this pattern? |
Obama closes in on Clinton in the polls. They have a debate, and Clinton pulls away. Then, as the candidates campaign, Obama gets stronger again. Either Hillary is doing a better job in the debates, or people seeing a black man next to a white woman is stoking their tribal instincts. If the problem is the latter, I don't know what he could do about it. I think Clinton might have done better in the last debate because she talked more about the economy.

1. I dont see it as 'tribal'. Obama is 'people powered' and Hillary is 'msm powered' |
The MSM tells people what to think after a debate and that tide slowly turns back as Obama works the grass roots.

2. Obama, if you give him the time, does better in debates... |
...but he speaks in paragraphs, and he needs to start speaking in sentences. McCain will kill him in a debate if he doesn't fix this. I know what I'm saying is tantamount to dummying down his responses, but he really needs to. America's attention span isn't quite that long, even if his answers are more eloquent and informed.

3. Obama will do better against McCain |
It will be much easier for Obama to beat McCain. The policy differences are much greater. It will be a clear cut case of being for or against the war, for or against abortion rights, etc.
