1. I was unable to get into the event

I stood in line for 3.5 hours in the cold, and finally had to leave before I made it inside. My back was screaming in pain from standing in line that long. And I was so cold that I couldn't feel anything below my knees. I just got home from my attempt to attend. So I'm going to go check it out on teevee now.

3. I left around 8:45 PM

I'd been standing in line since about 5:15 PM, and I still hadn't gotten inside. The line was moving very slowly, although some people had been admitted. But my back was in agony, I was miserably cold, and I was getting a bit claustrophobic, with so many people pushing towards the entrance. I had just reached my personal limit for the day.

10. I was able to watch a lot of the event on C-Span after I got home last night

I caught it from the point right before Governor Patrick started speaking. That was a bit after 10:00 PM, and it was a live broadcast. So I would have been waiting for quite a while longer if I'd stayed.

3 hours in the cold is an awfully long time to stand, I don't know that I would have done it either. Someone from Idaho said they were lining up there at 4:30 in the morning, can you imagine??

Isn't it crazy to go from Bush to THIS??

We have truly lived through interesting times.

and Luftmensch and I took lots of pics. I'll make you a CD and send you your very own set of pictures, rox. .
It was great, Globe didn't even begin to cover the story: really, truly shameful.
Capuano, Delahunt gave good speeches, Patrick, Kennedy and Kerry were all rousing, and (contrary to misleading Globe report, which claimed that Obala was "hoarse and meandering". .WHAT ? Was the reporter even there?), Obama was in fine form.
Also, Caroline Kennedy was there, and Vicki Kennedy and Teresa Kerry came on stage at the end. .

And energy of crowd was thrilling.

11. How far back in the line were you?

When I got there, the line was only as far back as the Seaport Restaurant, about a block or so away from the entrance to the building. But the line didn't even start moving until after 7:30 or so. I'm told the delay was mostly security-related, because they were inspecting purses and backpacks, and making everyone go through a metal detectors. There were also several helicopters circling above the building. I assume they were probably security-related as well.
