My support for Obama got bruised |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-06-08 03:59 PM by politicasista
just a little last week.
At a non-political site I always hang out, there was a Clinton-Obama poll with Obama winning 23-17 (it's meaningless of course). Most of the peeps (like me :)) favored Obama because of the change theme and what he brings to the table. Others favored Clinton because of the name, experience of the issues, and standing up to the GOP after repeated knockdowns. However, one of the HRC supporters pointed out that people were "buying into the media's stories of Obama" and listed several articles and links to support that claim.
One thing that came out of this from now on is that thou shall not say anything bad about a candidate, which is why I don't hang out in GDP as much. I did post a rebuttal that Obama is a candidate of integrity and doesn't play the "win at all cost" game. It was shouted down as "Obama has been anything but a candidate of integrity in this campaign, and HRC/BC are not trying to win at all costs" and sited media links from comments about HRC--Punjab and took jabs at Michelle.
And I now regret even stepping into the fray on this, but the time when HRC knifed Kerry in the back (time to let that go now), and how McAuliffe didn't protect and secure the vote or machines was all "revisionist history." Ironically, there was no response to the McAuliffe claim.
Anyway, my blogger friend complained that she was tired of me and the rest of the "Anti-Clinton brigade" saying the HRC is polarizing, etc. And you know what? I have never trashed the Clintons. So much for being singled out. And all of this is coming from a blogger friend that I usually talk to and am cool with.
How are you making it during the primary wars?
edit for word.

1. Like the article Phobocracy, fear of hope. |

I sent out a strong, linked memo to the 300 Kerry and election activists list, of first time endorsements, three scathing article links about Billary after SC (no one uses my Hillbilly), and many many more, not as ranting about the mafia-like hit on Kerry, but got fear of Obama and how candidates can only have single narratives. Obama inspirational, but no there-there, or experience like Hillary. Both are multi-faceted.
Not too many responded very negatively, so I hope that's a result of agreement and not spam filters.
The Letterman and Hallmark's shows positioned her well the night before for people really wanting to vote for her. We also had the 'academic not plagued by self doubt" Paul Krugman, give life to the argument-again-for health care madates in the New York Times. He can be very wrong, like about Kerry and other issues, but he's an icon. He's relentless on mandates, as if a big government bureaucracy will work, win friends and not get chewed up when they first sit down. Allows the garnishment of wages, etc, to claim universal.
Obama is being smart with liberal ideas given in conservative language. A better starting position for coming to the table.
I'm just very mad but not surprised about the post Tuesday media and Clinton spin of extreme win or loss, not including what must have been a press release of how the states chosen were to annoint a coronation. Amazing he could build and find support in the states left over to remain competitive. Extra kudos.
Concerned as ever about the voting machinery, its safety procedures, and not just the Democrats' political machinery.

I am not suprised at the spin either. I didn't watch the news or wander in GDP (especially with the ignore/hide thread features off), but I lurked at the Obama campaign blog.
