In the attempt to start an Obama picture thread...
Here are some photos from our Obama rally last week. My goodness--it was only a week ago today! Anyway, I apologize--the photos really aren't that great. My little phone camera just couldn't handle the distance and the stage lighting. You'll have to trust me that the dark splotch on the stage really is our guy. :)

But I'm sure the rest of you have some great photos. Photo threads are a favorite past time in the Kerry forum, and people post ones they've found on the internet that they like, too. So everyone can play. It's lots of fun! :)

Bloggers!!! They really had a rotten location, behind the big risers for the TV cameras. Wouldn't have been able to see a thing.

Crowds!!!

Me, my husband, and my oldest daughter. Gosh I look chubby there, but I was wearing three layers of sweaters and turtlenecks since we had to wait outside in 30 degree weather for 2.5 hours.

My daughter was quite the trooper, but finally--after a 2.5 hour wait outside and another 2 hour wait inside, and all the anticipation and the screaming when Obama finally arrived--the policy part of his speech went over her head and she zonked out. So cute! :)

I wish I had been able to get better close-ups of Obama. If we hadn't had our daughter with us, we would have gone down to the floor and probably gotten right up against the rope line. Maybe we'll have that chance some other time. :)

Okay, your turn--where's your favorite Obama photos???

1. Portland, last Sept
We got at the Convention Center in the late afternoon so we would have plenty of time to scope it out and make sure we got in the right line, etc. This was a $25 a ticket event, so getting 4,000, when he was kind of stuck in the polls, was pretty good. The thing I noticed was the diversity, and that this was a different crowd than JK's Dem events, these were more middle class and Voters. The crowd started lining up around 6, I think doors opened at 7:30. We had gone to eat so we still were behind around 60 people or so. We stood in line with a nice Dem couple a few years older than us and chatted about all sorts of things. They were so excited and we were hearing "reminds me of Bobby". I sat next to an elderly black woman who had shaken JFK's hand at the Portland airport back in the 60's. So I shook the hand that shook JFK's hand (during segregation) at a Barack Obama event. Pretty cool!! We chatted for a long time too, she was a grandma and as has been previously noted, that appears to be an automatic club. Okay... to the pictures. And, oh, that bald guy is nobody. Well, I'm sure he's somebody, but I don't know who he is, he's just in the picture is all.

People filing in.

A gospel choir sang the Anthem, or some patriotic song or other.

The floor crowd, there were two bleachers full on either side of these folks.

And here he is, (that old guy on the stage is Tony McPeak who campaigned quite a bit for Kerry).

3. Cute! :-)
He just looks like someone who is a nice, decent guy. His mom did a very good job raising him.

6. Thanks!
Yeah...I have to admit, I have pretty darn cute kids. And that one is very intelligent and has been interested in politics ever since she heard me rhapsodizing about John Kerry in 2004. She's a lot of fun. :)
