1. I'd say ignore it.
don't give it any more play than it's already gotten. Trust the people to be smarter than to believe this crap.

I think you're probably right. If I hadn't read it here, I would not have known about it myself.

3. Is there anything we can do?
I remember partaking in a DU effort to get Glenn Beck off CNN, or to at least to get him to clean up his act. My husband and I wrote emails and called his sponsors. It made no difference. Our efforts were either ignored, or we received lame responses where the companies contacted basically washed their hands of it. He's still spewing on the air. My personal opinion is that unless someone with clout takes up the cause not much will change. :-(

After Matthews' interrogation of Kirk Watson last night, I'm swearing off Hardball, and will hit the mute button when he opens his trap during MSNBC's election coverage. MSNBC will never get rid of him, but that doesn't mean I have to watch him. And I'll continue to email them with my complaints or compliments as warranted. :-)

Obama in new Osama TV mix-up
By staff writers
February 20, 2008 11:30am

NBC News says it was an "inexcusable" mistake that an image of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was flashed up during a discussion about Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama on a news show.

The blunder occurred during at the start of Hardball on Monday night, the Associated Press reported.

The nightly show analyses American politics and media.

Host Chris Matthews was previewing a story on the controversy over Senator Obama's use of another politician's words when an image of bin Laden briefly flashed on the screen beside him with the headline "Words About Words".

The Obama campaign immediately called NBC to complain, and Matthews apologised on air a few minutes later.

When Hardball was rerun later that night, a picture of Senator Obama was put up instead.

NBC said the mistake was made by someone in the network's graphics department whom MSNBC would not identify, AP reported.
