FINALLY!!! Phone calls that definitely mattered!

I have made about 100 phone calls from my precinct list so far. I have mostly gotten disconnected numbers (you get a lot of those in my lower-middle class neighborhood as people move a lot) and answering machines.

FINALLY, tonight, I had 2 phone calls that made a difference! Both were already Obama supporters, but neither were aware of the combination caucus/primary that we have, so they didn't know their vote can basically cocunt twice. Both promised to go to the precinct meeting on election night, and both are also coming to a local rally with some community leaders tomorrow and might volunteer too. It was so uplifting to finally feel like my calls made a difference!

Granted, some others might have.... I left a lot of detailed messages, and I talked to a few undecideds and was very helpful wiith questions about early voting, etc. Sometimes just a favorable impression from a campaign could make a difference to an undecided voter.

But it was awesome knowing I personally got 2 people to promise to caucus AND they promised to talk to all their friends who probably didn't kow about it either!

It's great when you get to realize real time effects for your efforts. I'm sure there are many more that you will never realize. Plant some seeds, and watch the flowers grow.
