I just started listening to the Audiobook version of "Dreams from my father" today |
|
So far it's fantastic. It seems so authentic and personal, and yet so eloquent.
That little bastard wrote this thing when he was younger than me. It's safe to say I hate him.
Freaking talented jerk!

1. I'm reading it for the first time right now. |

I'm up to about chapter four--and I say "first time" because I'm sure I'll want to read it again. It's such an interesting story! And he tells it so authentically. He gets right into his mind as a child and it makes me remember when I was that age. But then he also adds his adult perspective on events. Great writing style. The audio book sounds like it would be a lot of fun, too.

2. I have a long commute, and Obama reads the book |
|
so it's kinda like him giving a cool 7 hour speech. Same with Audacity of Hope.
So far what I find most striking is how similar and completely different his history is from mine. By which I mean, I have as boring a family history as you can imagine, and yet somehow I still feel connected with what he's relating.
