Would Jay Rockefeller be a good VP for Obama? |
|
He has lots of experience (I think he's been in Senate since '72) and is very popular in WVA. They have a Dem governor. He comes from a red state that used to be blue (hasn't gone Dem since '96). But would the last name Rockefeller go over?

1. I don't know enough about him. |
|
and by "enough" I mean "anything", but I think the time for Democrats from Red states is at hand. My #1 choice originally for President coming out of 2004 was Mark Warner - a popular Democratic governor of a red state.
IMO, what the country needs now is a unifying figure, which is why I'm so hugely supportive of Obama and partially why I never thought Clinton would be a good choice in 2008.
Personally I'd like Warner in the VP slot, but I suppose he's too important as a senate candidate.

2. Warner doesn't have foreign policy background, Webb would be a better choice |
|
if he wants to go the Virginia way.
and yes, Warner in the Senate will be great.
the one question i have with Webb as VP candidate is if we have another Democratic Candidate in the State that could help us keep the seat. id on't mean just a temporary appointment by Tim Kaine. but who could also win when election time comes up.
either way, i think with Obama we have a pretty good chance in Virginia.

Have been thinking Richardson since before he dropped out of the race. Lots of pluses, Cabinet experience, Governor of a swing state, diplomat, oh, and hispanic too. What's not to like?

4. Agreed: too much negative baggage |
|
My choice is Jim Webb - Senator from Virginia, former Secretary of the Navy during the Reagan administration and a highly decorated Vietnam combat veteran.
