Hey guys--My wonderful story of being thrown under the bus by DU HC supporters |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-22-08 11:01 AM by Kerry2008
Hey guys.
As many of you know, after Edwards dropped out I supported Clinton. I was very vocal about it here on DU, and I did everything I could to defend Senator Clinton and her campaign. Even when the going got tough, I was along side the rest of the DU Hillary supporters making the case she was still viable.
However, lately it's been crystal clear she really had no chance. I read a series of articles that layed out the math, and showed that thought and belief to be correct.
It was simple: Hillary Clinton had no chance at being the Democratic nominee!!
So I let DU know I was switching sides. No big deal, and I layed out the reasoning behind and even urged Senator Clinton supporters to come to the same conclusion. Hell, even one Clinton aide in private said she had 10% chance left to the nomination. And she'd have to do it in the most low and dirty way possible. She isn't going to do that, despite what some of you feel about her tactics.
I got a series of responses from a poster who I used to battle with over John Kerry back in 2006 and 2007 who called me a traitor and said I was a mole, and suggested I never was a Clinton supporter and just pretended to get "behind the scenes" of everything. Behind the scenes of what? This is DU, not the ACTUAL campaign.
It made sick because I had my sister look around DU because she is a Clinton fan, and I wanted to show her a place to find other supporters. She didn't like DU, but the HRC supporters here on DU have a hide out forum where they post about DU and about Hillary. So I gave her the link. She came across a thread where they were bashing me, and trashing me, and calling me a mole for no reason. And she defended me. So they deleted her, and blocked her from the forum.
So if you don't agree with them anymore, and back a different candidate because the math isn't on your side anymore--your a traitor!!
I hope you guys welcome me here :)
I'm not a traitor. Or a mole. Just a former Clinton supporter who liked Hillary more, but can see the truth--Hillary cannot win the nomination. It's time for the McCain GE battle.
GOBAMA!

5. It just shows all the more reason |
|
why we need to come together. The split keeps getting wider, the media and others on blogs are getting more angry by the day.
If this ends even in June i worry we will win, by then so many will be so pissed their side didn't win they might not vote in nov.
People have lost site this time of the real goal, nov.
But if everyday you go online or watch tv they fan the flames its no wonder people don't stop being angry.
I think the party elders if they really do want to win this time have to step up and soon, we can't even wait until rest of the elections. I think june is too long with the split deepening every day. I think part of the problem is a lot of the DNC old party members are for Hillary and while they know they are losing are having a hard time coming to gripes with it. If they don't come to grips soon I will be wondering if they want her to win bad enough they are willing to lose to McCain to get her in in 2012.

I applaud you for really thinking through your decision and having the courage to support your cause with pride.

9. Welcome! I was initially for Edwards but when he dropped out it didn't take long to decide on Obama |
|
and his speech on race this week makes me feel that if he's elected we will have a truly great president.

12. Good to have you on board - I think the HRC supporters play dirty precisely because of the math |
|
I don't mean it in a derogitory way, but because they're kind of desperate and know they don't have much of a chance, they *have* to play the Kitchen Sink strategy in order to have any chance of eeking out a win.
Personally I'm not a fan of that because I'd really like to win in November. In 2004 I was a Kucinich supporter until the Convention, and I thought Kucinich staying in worked well, but he didn't go insanely negative (and never had a chance anyway), so if Clinton was playing kinda nice, having a long race could have been positive, but I don't see that anymore, and since she has about as much chance now as Kucinich did, if she's not playing positive, there's no reason for her to be in the race.
Just my thoughts as to why they're being nasty. Regardless, we're glad to have you here!

14. Hi there, and welcome. |
|
It's nice to be on the same side again, which we haven't been since we both wanted Clark to run.
I do think your experience says more about the pernicious effects of this overly prolonged primary process than about the supporters of any one particular candidate. The longer this goes on, the nastier it gets, and the worse that people will behave. I guess it's just part of human nature.
I don't see how anyone can possibly think that you are a mole. I think the accusation is just some people's way of lashing out and venting their anger. It's not easy to invest that much in a candidacy and then lose, especially when the losing is as long and drawn out as it is for Hillary right now.

20. Crunchy Frog!! Hey there buddy ;) |

This primary season has been long and hard fought. I'm very proud of ALL of our candidates for running an incredible, history making race. And I think Hillary should graciously get out of the race, and let history takes it's course. It's Obama's time, and time to win the General Election and kick some McCain ass ;)

Sorry for all you've been through.
The bitterness and anger I see from some HRC supporters is very upsetting. Sometimes I really do wonder if we'll all be able to come together for the good of, not only the Democratic Party, but America and the world as well.

I used to hate Obama thinking he was just another jive-talking you know. But then I saw the war people were waging against him and looked and listened more closely. I'm probably more radical than most people at DU but I'm not a purist. If WE want to get anywhere then WE need to work together and Obama is the only politician I know who understands this and goes about it in such a way that I don't have to hold my nose.

HRC. Why? Because you have always held the standard that Obama has talked about: we can disagree without being disagreeable. Even when we disagreed on your choice in MO, it was a nice conversation with no hard feelings. I am sorry you were treated that way by Hillary supporters; hopefully, that is only true of the bad apples.

I am not justifying it or saying ti wa sin any way right, but I think the higher the odds get stacked against Hillary, the more defensive and angry some of them get. There are lots of others who have either quieted down, or just keep on doing what they have been doing civilly, but I think the ones who have been "difficult" soo far will only get moreso as their frustration increases. It's human nature, really. That doesn't excuse it. Just don't take it too personally. I appreciated the guts it took you to make that post.
