Is anyone else through with arguing with Hillary supporters? I know I am.
Edited on Tue Mar-25-08 04:40 PM by beachmom
I'm kind of done with Hillary and her supporters. Sure, sometimes I wade in, but nowadays, I would rather go to DailyKos where Hillary supporters are on strike (woo hoo!) and then go to The Field, Andrew Sullivan, and the more even handed Talking Points Memo. I also like Jack and Jill Politics. But fighting with HRC supporters on GDP seems like a total waste of time. As far as I am concerned, Obama will be the nominee, and it is best to start rallying around him now. I also think it is well worth taking the fight to McCain soon, since he is making lots and lots of mistakes on the campaign trail, which need to be pointed out. Hillary is definitely trying to pull a Tonya Harding on Obama, but like the doomed Olympic skater of the '90s, her efforts will fail. She's done, and I'm done fighting with her supporters.

1. heh - remember when I dubbed her Tonya Harding after the heyjohn and botched joke?
She is surrounded by Giloolys, and has been since she started running for president in 1999.

2. I came to GDP for the first time in a week and I think I am done with it now.
The climate is so sickening that you would want to yell forever.

I agree it is a waste of time to fight against them on GDP, but sadly, this campaign is orchestrated by the Clinton campaign and I wished it stopped soon so that people can calm down and regroup around a nominee.

She is done, but she can hurt Obama in a way he can never recover and hello president McCain. I wished the big wigs told her to step down, but the biggest wig of the party these days is her husband and he seems to want him more than her.

6. You are unfortunately correct 100%
each day I hope that SOMETHING will happen that will put an end to this scary democratic auto-immolation. Hopefully there was some substance behind what Harry Reid said the other day, and he was not just shooting his mouth.

3. Fighting HRC's supporters isn't worth it
I agree. I'm not sure WHAT HRC supporters see in her at this point, especially given how very, very interested the right and the MSM are in promoting a candidacy that is over. She's done. Stick a fork in it. However, we have people like Tim Russert indicating that if HRC wins in PA, it's a whole new game. :eyes:

I wish the HRC folks would wake up. They are being played by people who want the Dems to fail in big way. And Hill'n'Bill are so wrapped up in their own desperate need to regain power and believe in their own entitlement that they are feeding right into the destruction of their own party. Thanks, folks. :sarcasm:

Given all of your ability, focusing your efforts on the campaign ahead (the one that REALLY matters) will be a tremendous help. Go for it!!!

4. You are right. It is a waste of time unless the attacks get personal.
Then I go and defend the attacked. But, for the most part, it does no good to post some truths that fall on death ears.

9. hi there
I just changed my signature line to reflect the fact that I need to move on from my favorite candidate (Biden) no longer being in the race. And to be honest that I'm for Obama. I had been pretty neutral, but the Bosnia thing tipped me over the edge.

And wow, suddenly I'm attacked for saying the most neutral things. So thought I'd take a peek over here. GD:P has been illegible to me lately because it is mostly "ignored".

10. Hillary's supporters are growing tired of it too.
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 08:09 AM by tekisui
Many have left DU, posting at a new Hillary site. Many are on a week long boycott, planning on returning en masse.

They are getting tired and weak of defending a failing campaign.

11. same here
I've never enjoyed fighting with people--if they started something I'd usually just ignore it. If I go there now I'm pretty much set on not answering any of it. So many threads just deteriorate into petty squabbles after the first six or so replies. You can get a good reply from another Obama supporter usually--or someone who is more neutral.

I'm with you on going to other sites. I like to read DailyKos more and more, and have started replying there more often. I think to myself, "if people can be civil here, why not at DU?" I don't know that it was ever this bad over there. I like The Field, TPM, David Corn, HuffPo and Americablog, and also the progressive magazine sites for commentary--The Nation, The American Prospect, The Washington Monthly. And Glenn Greenwald has been a favorite at Salon, although I haven't visited lately.

I feel a little sorry for HRC supporters; they're like passengers on some doomed Titanic. But the difference is that they could get off that ship at any time--and the Obama lifeboats will be there to pick them up when it finally does go down.

12. I've been in GDP this morning and you are so right.
I'm convinced that we need to take this race to the next level. Obama is addressing McCain and starting to fight the General Election, it would seem, and we should follow suit. HRC's campaign is dead in the water, no matter what kind of life support the media or her money puts her on. Let's all just move on and start to support Obama's GE campaign here at DU.

GDP is beyond pathetic. And continually going after HRC lets her supporters believe that she's still viable.

13. Her supporters are just like she is
They think her power hungry ways are appealing.

Whatever happens, we should be proud of our candidate.

My grandmother always reminded me when I was not being kind, "God don't like ugly,we expect you to be thoughtful and kind and good."

Well Sen. Obama's family, in my view, raised him in a beautiful way.

I love the content of his character.

16. I'm finding it very relaxing to just ignore them all.
I'm going to try not to even mention her name, but simply advocate for my candidate--and point out McCain's faults!

but I agree with you. I think our best efforts are supporting Obama and speaking up his platform are more productive.
