A polite request from an HRC forum poster: |
|
Lately we have been getting Obama Supporters dropping by for a quick anti-HRC comment or spurious "alert."
The HRC forum is making a point of telling posters to give you folks your privacy out of politeness, and reserve comments to the forum unless participating in the GD-P Maelstrom.
Without any other comment, we would like to please request that you do the same.
Thank you very much.

People who are not supporters have no business barging into individual forums.

3. I completely agree with you - |
|
The Topic Forums are for people of like minds to hang out. Disrupters in the topic forums is unacceptable.
Please keep in mind that some of the people who say they support Obama -- don't they are just stirring up shit and giving real Obama supporters a bad name.

6. Yup, agreed. Supporters of other candidates should not post in that forum. |
|
That is just the way it is. As a veteran of the John Kerry forum, I know how this feels when someone suddenly arrives uninvited. There is one exception, however -- if a non supporter posts something they honestly think the Hillary supporters would like. I did that a few months ago -- I think a vet's story of meeting Bill Clinton; however, the HRC forum wasn't that active at the time.

If you aren't a supporter of Hillary, then you don't belong in the forum. I'm sorry you guys have had someone bothering you over there.

10. Amazing the amount of locked threads in the HRC group |
|
as compared to this group. There's a reason for that: this is an Obama supporters group, and not a bitch and moan, and calling out other DUers group.
You guys may want to try that, and your threads won't get locked.

12. Actually, that is where "experience" comes into play. There are quite |
|
a few old time Kerry supporters who are now Obama supporters here. We hung out in the JK forum for 3 whole years because it was pretty bad "out there". We made some mistakes on the way, and learned from a nice conversation with one of the moderators (maybe Skinner) how the forum can or cannot be used. So I know that I have corrected at least one Obama supporter here who tried to use the forum to "call up the troops" for a thread, an absolute no no. The Hillary supporters still haven't learned that, and that is why their threads get locked. We certainly can discuss threads, and provide info, but by no means can we stage battle from here to GDP. Once the Hillary supporters learn that lesson, they won't get their threads locked. Still, I do agree that the Hillary forum is a pretty negative place. They should try to have more fun. 'Course, the Kerry forum was full of women who didn't find Kerry hard on the eyes .... which was how we kept our sanity during the worst of times. :)

13. Veteran of the Clark forum, from back when it was active. |
|
We got schooled very early on as to what was and was not acceptable behavior. In fact, I think the moderators pretty much cut their teeth on us. ;) But yes, people can't expect to violate DU rules on these forums and not have their threads locked, and there's a certain amount of learning by trial and error. Also, people need to get used to the fact that anyone at all is free to read these forums, even if posting is somewhat restricted.

I didn't learn it the hard way - I learned it by watching it happen to others on groups, and sub-forums (most specifically, the feminists forum) well over a year ago. Mainly, around the time of the Block feature, and the preceding months when I was just discovering all these groups/forums.

11. We shouldn't post there, and you shouldn't be posting here either, so go away. |
|
But the rules stand, even in your subforum. Don't blame us when your violations of the rules gets threads locked.

Went down to the Hillgeon and noticed at least one rule-breaking thread, and quite a few rule-breaking posts. Once you realize that the rules apply to the Hillgeon too, you may just stop getting posts locked and deleted.
You're welcome. :hi:

16. (Visitor Query) Just what the f___ is a "spurious 'alert'"??? |
|
Is this another "the moderators are biased" claim? Is this whining about how it's somehow "unfair" to enforce rules?? Are you claiming that locked threads are somehow attributable to "tattletales"??
CLEARLY, an 'Alert' is not visible to regular members ... and it'd only be a presumtpion that some moderator action was the result of an 'Alert' (since moderators DO 'patrol' the forums, too).
Are you at all aware of the fact that moderators act by CONSENSUS?
I find this claim regarding "spurious 'alert(s)'" strangely paranoid, quite frankly.
Advice: Stop the insanity. (Seek help.)

19. Well, if you go to the Hillgeon |
|
You'll see the Locked threads (Quite a bunch), and see that they're breaking DU rules. The deleted messages, for the same reason.
I don't know what's so hard to understand? Don't call out the Mods and Admins; don't call out other DUers; don't post links to other threads for purposes of rallying the troops; don't post bigoted garbage.

21. For the Texas Primary two of us decided to do |
|
a Texas Primary Thread for Obama Supporters Only
I thought it worked beautifully and there was no one from the HC camp who tried to jump in or disrupt.
They may have had there own thread at GD-P but ours went well.
In fact I was wondering if we should do it for the debate in PA?
It's tense enough, neither camp should have to do battle with the other.

27. Well, I think it is a good rule of thumb for us never to post in the HRC forum. |
|
And considering the bad faith shown during this drama, I would suggest Hillary people steer clear of the Obama forum. That just is going to be how it is for a while until this primary reaches its conclusion.

If they're upset that threads are getting locked, it would be because they're not following the rules.

Candidate's forums should be places where their supporters can go and talk about what they want to talk about, not fish barrels for supporters of other candidates to take shots.
