Barack Obama is closing fast in Pennsylvania, where he hopes to finally knock out Hillary Clinton from the Democratic race.
A Quinnipiac University poll out today shows Clinton leading 50 percent to 44 percent, but that 6-percentage-point edge is down from 9 percentage points last week and 12 percentage points in mid-March in the same survey.
The poll, conducted Thursday through Sunday among 1,340 likely Democratic voters, has a margin of sampling error was plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
Obama is being buoyed in Pennsylvania by a barrage of TV ads -- he's outspending Clinton 3-1 by some measures -- plus last week's bus tour across the state. The trend during the entire nomination fight has been that the more time he spends in a state, the higher he rises in the polls.
Clinton, behind in delegates and popular vote, is counting on a significant win in Pennsylvania on April 22 to narrow the gap and build momentum toward the remaining contests.
