Maybe it would resonate as well as the race speech? Yes, I think it would be a great time for a speech addressing the needs of rural America.

The Obama campaign has got so much right about timing on so many levels (a sense reinforced by the phone campaigning I did in Elk County PA last week -- the calls were timed for the opening of their office there. . ), that I would presume (and HOPE) that someone on the campaign is already thinking about this. It would be great timing, not just because of the Flap, but also because of the nature of the states coming next: PA, IN, WV, and parts of NC.
FWIW, the people I called in Elk County -- deep in the "Alabama" section of PA -- were either quite enthusiastic about Obama,or at least quite interested in Obama (people's voices perked up noticeably when I told them about the office), or , at worst, neutral.
Fingers crossed that people (to quote you from another thread) do see the forest for the trees, or, just generally, wake up.
