Obama fans would you favor him releasing an ad attacking Hill on her Bosnia lies? |
|
Do you think it would be fair play? after all she is going after his San Francisco "bitter" comments hard and produced an ad. But there is a difference between what he did and what she did. He made an honest mistake in the way to put something, but anybody with a brain would understand what he was trying to say. The difference with Hillary is she told the same lie about being under sniper fire several times over several months. I think people would respect Obama more for what he tried to say than somebody who is a chronic liar.
The problem with us doing that is that Obama has a positive image overall, and if he did that he would get in the mud with Hillary, but if her ad shows signs it's working I almost feel he should fight back.
What do you think?

1. I don't think he needs to, and it would be counterproductive |
|
The media and the blogosphere have trumpeted that lie enough for it to have done its work. If Obama talked about it now, he'd look meanspirited.
Wait for the next dumb statement or lie, instead, and see if it gets picked up by the press and/or the blogosphere.

2. nah--that wouldn't be his style, and his style is really appealing to voters as it is |

he has been the gentleman and proved he can handle shit-slinging with grace and without lowering himself. I think it would lower the discourse to sink to her swamp level. He is infusing people with hope and a warm fuzzy feeling without being maudlin or phony about it, but just by being himself. He is his own best campaign commercial just as he is.
I asked my 92-year-old father for a more objective view, since I'm on DU 24/7 and wanted to know how the contest looked to "the outside world." He is a very sociable person in an old people's apartment complex--he said people are sick of gossip and dirt and they are tuning it out, they don't pay as much attention to it as the media thinks they do.

He is doing a good job on the stump speaking for himself in a positive way and putting their attacks in perspective.
