GD Shitstorm! I did get a kick out of Nance Gregg's post last night and one or two others. |
|
Nance Gregg's rant was locked, I won't link lest I lock this thread... :eyes: But it's posted as her journal here: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/NanceGreggs/540Another delicious and very poorly punctuated stream of consiousness OP was written by DUer xultar, here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7126875And, finally, cliffordu let's it all out here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x7132542Hang in there, everyone! :grouphug: NYC_SKP

1. Not sure I will stick around much longer... |
|
It isn't about disagreeing with policy, it's the nastiness against POTUS (and those that support him). Waited 8 long years to elect a Democrat and this is what we see here at DU.

3. Exactly and that's what Nance's OP was about. |
|
I see those using any possible excuse to dump on Pres Obama 'cause they've been doing it with pure hate since the primaries.
So, if you can navigate the board ..there's still lots of support for our Prez and everyone knows he's not perfect especially Obama knows it.

5. Hope you stick around, it's more noise than substance and they aren't really representative of DU. |
|
But when they come out, they come out in Hoards!!!
Skinner's still a huge fan of Hillary, who by most estimations is to the right of Obama.
So I think the administration just lets them have their day every so often.
Stick around, we need you.

It's absolutely disgusting the way people here bash our President constantly 24/7.

6. I'm tough. These days keep me more engaged than I otherwise would be. |
|
I know it's just a board, but I've learned a lot here and I intend to give back.
If that means going in for a fight every so often, that's cool.
It's worth it! I'd forgotten about this forum, tho, until cliffordu posted grantcarts post a few days ago.

4. I will never understand |
|
What these people expected. Never. I hate the war, I hate all wars. My son is in Iraq, heading toward Afghanistan in a few months-- is that supposed to give ME, personally some sort of credibility? All this talk of, (who are these people? Democrats? Pacifists? Disgruntled third party members?) people supporting Obama and the status of their kids or lack of them in a war is irritating to me, and perhaps hurtful to others. I know a bit about the Afghanistan war, what could as well as what would happen if we just went home, but I've seen far more knowledgeable people than I spell it out far more clearly than I ever could.
If I was less, what pragmatic? Practical? Honorable? I'm not even sure what word I want, I'd go join a eco-feminist/socialist/anarchist party and stay on the fringe of things, permanently. Or something.
But I want to work in the system we have to help make real changes. I want a real government. I want real solutions. I never did fool myself into thinking President Obama was going to do things all my way, but he's done incredible work to start to undo some of the damage of the previous administration. We're starting embryonic stem cell research. He's repealed the Global gag rule. Those two things right there, one has the potential to transform lives, the other is saving lives.
So I don't post a whole lot you know, but I used to like to browse around, and make a comment here and there on topics dear to my heart. The anti-Obama bullshit is pretty overwhelming even to me.

Yeah, a lot of us have been experiencing it since the primaries and everything that's happened since..so it's just more prattle and subterfuge from those who never wanted him in the first place.
It's a rough road right now but it will get better if we laser focus like the president is.

7. I truly enjoyed Nance's post. Excellent. Thanks for sharing those |
|
other two, I hadn't seen them. Both were great. Cliffordu was right on, and I enjoyed the long winded rant. I think the president did what he had to do. Had he just pulled out of the war, it would have been a bigger shit storm for all concerned. I understand we have 43 countries as allies in this, or at least that is what I thought Hillary Clinton said today. We need to see it through. I support the president for doing the best he can to get this mess cleaned up and ended.

Like you, I sometimes find myself doing that (and even more often, finding myself WANTING to do that).
I'm glad this forum is picking up again. It's much easier on my blood pressure. :)

I've said this several times before, but I find it ironic how some so-called anti war activists are the nastiest, most childish name calling-nest people I've ever seen. They must tell themselves it's righteous anger :eyes:

16. Isn't it interesting that the rest of the Democratic Party has not had the same emotional response |
|
I heard Senator Saunders on the way home and his main critique was the diversion of resources away from the poor in America. The essential strategy he didn't seem to oppose and certainly didn't find it either surprising or a radical departure.

17. Damned glad to see folks fighting back. It's only a message board |
|
but I'm bothered by the fact that a few loud, really ignorant, malcontent dumbasses here actually think that they speak for the Democratic Party and for America. Or maybe it's that they realize that they DON'T speak for the party or for the country but damn wouldn't the world just be a better place if they did??! I'm glad to see that people are letting them know that they don't even speak for everyone on this message board, let alone in the Dem party.
It's just my nature to want to take people like that down a notch or 20.

It doesn't help, it just seems like a jr high school hazing party, not productive.
