Obama is facing the perfect storm |
|
Edited on Sun Dec-20-09 12:02 PM by NJmaverick
On his left I think he is seeing a perfect storm.
He has those that swore he would make a terrible president feeling now is the time to say "I told you so"
He has the Greens and the Anarchists that some how thought he would destroy every corporation in America
You have idealists that are angry at his pragmatic approach to office
You have the pacifists who are angry that he fulfilled his campaign pledge to focus on Afghanistan.
Finally you have those who are disappointed that the Dems couldn't swing the public option in the 58 Dem senate.
In time I think many in the last two groups, who are angry, and in time will come down and return to supporting him. I am fearful though that this storm could result in lasting damage like the nasty primary wars left.

3. faux pacifists, maverick |

I'm willing to bet most of those so called pacifists wouldn't know true peace if it stared them in the face.

4. Many are in the Cult of personalities, but in a hateful negative way...... |
|
and they are the same ones that at the end of the day, it ain't really about policies for them, it's about simply continuing on with the vitriol that they have gotten accustomed to, and is really the only thing they know.
They are not part of any solution, I'll tell you that!

5. There was a perfect storm when |
|
he won the Presdidency and now is another for the hate all around him while he focuses in the center.
This too shall pass.

6. I read an article by Arianna Huffington |
|
(because she knows everything, she thinks) saying Obama couldn't win an election by moving to the center. He did and he won. Indeed this is a storm and I can't wait for it to pass. But there will always be another one.

9. It's a shame. I liked Arianna a lot at one stage |
|
Especially during the Bush years
But the Obama got elected and since then she's gone off the deep end. But then again, that's true of so many progressives whom I used to have a great deal of respect for.

10. I sometimes wonder if it's more personal than an ideological difference |
|
Arianna made a lot of strong statements against Obama's campaign stategy and then his early moves to save the economy. It eventually reaches a point where his success would hurt her reputation.

12. That's my point about all the complainers and haters. |
|
They make the mistake of investing their egos and then they have absolutely no objectivity. They will see failure in every success simply because they predicted against or disagreed with a tactic and their egos won't let them admit that they are wrong.

11. I have a problem with client #9 |
|
Eliot Spitzer. He attacks the Obama administration on all things Wall Street. At first they hated him now they love him. I don't want to listen to someone who was so stupid they got caught up in a prostitution ring.
