There is no need to get myself tied into a knot with 'internet gangsters'. I would really like to have civil discussions, even when we disagree. I'm newly following politics, and I'll be damned if I want to hear insults thrown at a president and his supporters, after he walked into the biggest mess ever. We need to keep this forum up and keep discussing policy etc.

In only two of the top 5 Greatest Page posts, I counted 32 "malcontents" without a star. Three joined this month and probably shouldn't be counted. Five go back to 2001-2003. Many (with and without stars) are/will always be Kucinich supporters.

It's great, but I'm still going to spend most of my time over in GD. Someone has to counter the virulent anti-Obama crap over there. I see some familiar names here, so I know I'm not the only one.

Here's the thing: Lately, I've been watching the Top 10 list of threads which have very close rec/unrec numbers. DU is not an anti-Obama forum. Not at all. It's just that a lot of people are uncomfortable with the kind of crap the Freepers of the Left are doing. Any positive statement about Obama, Health Care Reform, or Iraq/Afghanistan gets pounced on by the haters.

As uncomfortable as it may be, it's very important that there be people to post the positive stuff and to deny the haters the majority.

I'm just mentioning this to encourage people to stand up to the haters in public. The more who do so, the more will join in. I refuse to give up DU to the ugliness of some prolific posters.

Nicely said. It's funny that we're not supposed to notice that the same people calling Obama and his administration a "failure" now are the same ones dogging his every move for the last 13 months. We're supposed to pretend that their criticism is "holding feet to the fire" and is not the ugly, unnecessary, unabridged hate that it APPEARS to be from any and every angle.

You have people who post 4, 5 and 6 OPs every single day. NONE of which are supportive of the President or have anything positive to say about one thing he's done. And if the first 5 OPs don't get the obligatory 125 recs that every anti-Obama thread in GD gets, they just keep posting new ones until one of them does or their claws get tired.
