Living in a red state I understand what dealing with Republicans is all about and understand the President's pragmatism. People miss that there are huge sections of the country that would go INSANE with fear if he did everything exactly the way many liberals wished. One example is universal health care, I think it would be wonderful but even solid Democrats I know would be horrified by the thought.

Things are a lot different in red states, namely the south. With the Limbaugh-Beck propaganda being broadcast all across the radio, and then reflected in local takes on the news, I am surprised the President can get anything at all accomplished. The propaganda is thick and hard to fight.

I expected slow going from the start and had zero expectations that he would be able to get ANY health care reform through. I also never for a minute thought we would get out of Afghanistan any time soon under any President.
