If a group of Obama supporters took a day off from, say, GDP - would anybody notice? Would the tone change?
:yoiks:
(btw, I was thinking that this might be a helpful tool, I'm not dissing this group!!)

1. I rather doubt they would. |
|
Posting facts and opinions that are contrary to their contrariness only makes them worse, so our absence probably wouldn't matter much.

2. Perhaps, but you did seem to hit on what I was thinking about |
|
You said that confronting them with facts only made them worse - so would they indeed get bored if nobody confronted them?

12. One problem with that is |
|
if we leave and not post, their posts will make the home page. Some random writer who is trying to get a feel of what is going on in the blogosphere could assume that everyone is anti-Obama and HRC.
This group doesn't appear on the Greatest page and is a subgroup of a group. This works in their favor because they don't like to be called out. They definitely do not want the outside to know that they are being called out.

15. I see what you're saying, but I also see that any post in GD or GDP |
|
that is even faintly positive toward Obama gets automatically unrec'd, so they don't make it to the greatest page anyway.

but what I've found is that the Obama bashers hate to be called out on their crap. When you do, they accuse you of race baiting. That should go over well, if whatever they are TRYING to do over flows out of the blogospher and into the public.
Can you say, SMACKDOWN?
If it wasn't so sad it would be funny. They are so delusional that they can not realize how this will appear to the bigger democratic base. dean does, that's why he pulled himself back from the cliff.
Obama's base was/is minorities, 1st time voters, moderates, independents and progressives. Hell that's how he won NC, Va, and Indiana. Of those groups, how many you think would be totally POed with the progressives for killing the bill and threatening to primary Obama and advocate joining with the tea baggers? I would say at least 4 out of 5 would say F&^k the democratic party and not vote period.

I've spent a bunch of time here tonight - as have several others - so I wondered "what if" nobody opposed them for just one day?

I rarely venture there any more. I look at the front page to see if someone I know isn't a walking ball of anger has posted something, and then I'll read it, but otherwise, I'm giving myself a break.

9. I've been busy today and posted very little... |
|
If anything, the tone has become more rancid than yesterday.
Right now I am waiting to see if Skinner reaches a point that a purge is called for, such as the one that happend after Obama won the primaries. I just have no idea whether the purge would be those of us supporting real progress or those of us ready to end any chance of progress.
But I have no intention of taking my toys and going home. I've come to like this community.

They're stinking ratholes infested with pissed-off trolls who apparently have nothing better to do than sit around and circlejerk about how much they hate the Obama Administration.

11. These days I don't think we'd be missed, so many of the posts and replies are negative. |
|
But I still go there.
If, however, we all decide to take a day or two off, I'm in.

They might turn on each other if the Obama supporters weren't there to smack around. Maybe it would cause some of them to wake up. Maybe not. But as I said, it would be no skin off my nose if I didn't go into those forums anytime soon.
I like it here.

In the smaller forums that are specific to a topic, members are not allowed to come in and trash people.
That's one very good thing!

Like many others, I'm inclined to let the 'hubble bubble, toil and trouble' crowd stew in their own juice for a little while.
