Hi everyone - mind if I join you? |

I've been posting on DU for many years and have been a moderator several times; it saddens me to think those of us who support our Democratic President are being forced off the main forums on the board and into our own little group. I never would have though it possible a year or so ago.
This is the first time since the creation of DU that members haven't had a common enemy (Buscho), so I guess some who are impatient and not happy Obama hasn't magically made all their wishes come true in one year's time have directed their anger at him. Or maybe they are just angry people in general and would never be satisfied? I don't know. I just can't stomach the hysteria that seems to have spread like wildfire.
I will continue to support President Obama, realizing the heavy burden he assumed when he took office. Real, lasting change does not happen overnight but in increments, especially considering the damage done to our country over the past 8 years (and even longer). I have no expectations of miracles from Obama, instead - a steady plod of working to change the status quo, which I believe he is doing and ultimately, he will achieve success. I also believe his supporters - or those that claimed to be - should give him a chance before attacking him and calling him names.
Makes me so sad.

1. Thanks for being here! |

I agree with everything you wrote. I can only hope the screamers can keep themselves occupied cheering for each other's hatred for the President while he goes on to actually govern our contry in a reasonable manner, as I feel he has done for nearly a year now. If these people can only contribute to this nation by being hateful and mean, well hopefully they can keep each other happy doing it, they are a miserable bunch of human beings.

Some of the posts are all emotion with no rational thought. Maybe it's an orchestrated effort by infiltrators? I'll reply but then find myself getting emotional as well, which isn't like me at all so I just don't post much anymore. It's nice to have this forum and all of you. :hi:

4. I don't mind criticism and think much of it is warranted. It's just the over-the-top drama |
|
And it really is a handful of posters stirring it up.

5. Agreed - I don't have a problem with criticism either. |

And I am critical of some of Obama's decisions, however I am not living in a fanstasy world.

totally available to me.
I believe that there are a few people who are echoing the same sentiments and basically taking over the board--much like the media's selective broadcasting.
I wish there was a way that we could "adopt" one--each of us--and track their posts. I am sure that we would find plenty of evidence that they are insincere.

13. Some of them have been around since the election and weren't really on board then either. |
|
Others, I think, are here just to disrupt. All we can do is alert on them so the mods can build a case.

You can bet I'll support a Democratic President, even if he can't do everything and even if he screws up. Because he will never be able to wreck this country the way Republicans can.

We barely survived 8 years under Bush; I'd think people would be satisfied to give Obama time to work instead of attacking him.

many of the original supporters and old time DUers who see this in its entirety. The Whole Picture if you will.

24. Don't be sad, be determined instead, |

that this time, reason will win over the crazed passionate support that we are witnessing on DU at this moment, for those who's interest is to destroy the bit advance that we are steadily making, and stop us dead in our tracks!
Welcome to "The" Forum.... an island of sanity in the DU sea of cynical unreasonable demands made of just one man.

I have grown weary of the non stop attacks on the administration and anyone who posts ANYTHING positive on either the administration, Obama or current stats. I just don't understand why some of them are even here at this point. They continually claim it's their duty to be 'holding his feet to the fire', which if that were the case, I'd agree, but there are some of these posts so far out there ... anyway, I'll continue to spend less time on DU until after the holiday. I've been absorbing the negativity and that's never good.

28. I support the President |
|
and he said he wanted everyone to stay involved. I wonder, would anyone really stay involved if we didn't have something to argue about. If things were fine and we all got along some would call it boring. I came to DU from another site. B***ing, whining, attacks was the norm. When sister Sarah came on the scene it was war. Alot of comments were deleted and some would end up in the holding tank. That's what I called it. I came here to take a break. Big surprise to see the same thing going on.
Sometimes I feel the President does things to keep us going at it. Like the phone call saying "Barry" and what about the bow. He knew the right would go crazy. Well it keeps us involved and we shouldn't leave the GD. I'm new here so I'm not as involved as others. I just read the comments and judge for myself what is right and wrong. They think some of their comments are absolutely brilliant. Problem is we have heard it all before.
