This is my first post in months...

When I left hardly anybody posted in this group so I didn't think I had any choice but to leave DU. I asked Admin to delete my account because I didn't want to be associated with an anti-Obama, anti-Dem site.

At the time I was going through some dead serious medical issues and couldn't deal with the constant negativity. When you're faced with your own mortality you tend to shed the parts of your life that don't work for you and DU was the first to go.

After a couple of months a good DU friend PM'd me to ask how I was doing and that's when I realized that the Admins hadn't deleted me after all. Since then I've checked the board from time to time and have been absolutely horrified to see what DU has become. Then just for kicks today I decided to see if the BO group had become more active.

It's wonderful to see so many folks here now. Funny, but we're the ones who never expected Obama to be perfect. We're the ones who always knew that change would be slow and difficult. We knew we wouldn't like every bill that was passed because democracy is messy and entails compromise even within our own party.

I'll continue to work to change what can be changed and to help elect liberal democrats. But I will NOT align myself with republicans to investigate Democrats or to kill this HCR bill. And as of now, this is the only part of DU that I will associate with. Thank you all for being here. I have missed so many of you. :)

way you did. I'd left for months too because I just couldn't stand the negativity here and when I returned, I happened on a post by a true DUer and found the link to this group.

I've now bookmarked it as my homepage for DU. I like coming here because it feels like the original DU as it has been since I became a member in 2004.

Now it appears to have become KU, or JaneHamsherU - except for here. People are just too demanding, too negative, and too hateful in GD and GDP, and ever since the Rec/Unrec feature has been added, they constantly unrec posts that have anything to do with anything positive about our President, and posts actually full of denigrating posts get the highest recs and end up on the front page!

and we will continue to fight against the unreasonable avalanche of opposition here to this Administration, because they were never supposed to be perfect,
they were just supposed to work hard to change what they could,
and be given 4 years to do so.

We just want this administration to be given that opportunity
with that time frame, without so much pissing on everything they try to do.

If congress is lost in 2010, there will be many here to blame,

8. I was just steered to this group today and gotta say it's a breath of fresh air.

The hate and histrionics on DU had me ready to pack up and leave but this feels like a place where people who are actually interested in change and helping with change can post. I don't know why it took me so long but thank god I found some sanity on DU. Thanks to you all.

12. Thank you all for your kind words! This is the first time I've smiled on DU

in a long, long time. Here's hoping that more of us will post in this group and that we can actually help to bring about the changes we want instead of working against our own party. Sometimes I wonder how we ever expect a Democrat to run for anything, with all the hate coming from supposed liberals as well as from the RWers.

It's good to have a sanctuary where we can go to escape the hysteria, madness and hateful rantings that seem to dominate GD and GDP these days.

You're right. I never expected Obama to be perfect and I never imagined that he had a magic wand that he could wave and fix all our problems in an instanct. But he's done a remarkable job considering all the obstacles put in his waey and he's getting the nation back on the right track. I'm so glad beyond words that he's our President and he makes me proud every day
