We're in transition--By the General Election Repubs Will Claim They Were Against War From Outset...
... and they will be standing with the American People against further funding of this War in Iraq that both sides, Democrats and Republicans, have continued to wage and fund.

Remember, they are masters at re-writing history on the fly.

2. Flying the 'September Report Flag' They will assert they were never behind this war 4 square...
... rather they always took a wait and see attitude, and now that everything has gone to hell in a handbasket they are being responsible by supporting a redeployment of troops out of Iraq.

It is all about perception --the say it, they believe they can create the reality to match that.

3. I've been worried about this very thing.
I remember saying a year ago that my biggest fear was that the Democrats would wimp out until the Republicans decided to be the anti-war party. I hope that doesn't happen, but Reid and Co. aren't giving me much hope.

4. The Repubs strategy
is going to work to put them back in power by co-opting the anti-war message.

And for the Dems I present Just by Radiohead

You do it to yourself, you do
and that's what really hurts
You do it to yourself, just you
you and no-one else

5. They can claim all they want.
Their voting record, and 6 years of rubber stamping everything that this illegal administration wanted in regards to the invasion and occupation will be there to prove that they are liars. Unless their voting records get conveniently "lost" like a bunch of WH emails did...

6. Remember, they will point to support for each funding 'from both sides of the aisle'...
The meme is already out there.

Don't blame just Republicans, both Repubs and Dems were hoodwinked --it is a bipartisan disaster.

That is the breach Chuck Hagel could step into.... especially since all ten(10) of the present Repub Candidates have staked out the Bush position on most issues, and in some cases tried to appear even more radically conservative than Bush.
