I don't see anyone "cheering" for it, but I do see a lot of attack threads. Maybe I missed them though - do you have links?

And I don't think shutting down one station is inherently consolidation, but I do agree it could be a sign of worse things to come. The real question though is whether the station involved was truly behind the coup attempt, imo. If no, then this is outrageous. If yes, then it is a lot more complicated than a simple right or wrong.

6. The station was clearly in league with the coup, and they *should* have lost their license.
What we need in America is one or two corporations being put out of business for malfeasance. As it is, it seems corporations can do ANYTHING but as long as they're making money, they can stay in business.

12. But is is right for the governement to now be using those airwaves to broadcast
pro-Chavez propoganda in addition to the stations it already owned?

11. It wasn't just shut down. It was taken over. It is now broadcasting pro-Chavez propaganda,
just as the other government owned stations already are. If that's not consolidation, I don't know what is.

15. How about posting some evidence
you claim pro-Chavez propaganda, but provide no links to transcripts or recorded video.

18. The station shouldn't pay the price...
if individuals were responsible they should be charged and no one at the station has been charged with a crime. Also, Chavez is threatening to shut down a second station. Globalvision.

There are already were government owned stations in Venezuela, and now there is yet another. Before long Chavez will control them all.

I would never break my telepathic link with Rupert Murdoch. Do you have any idea how many hours I might otherwise waste each day thinking?
