The agency said it was evaluating the applications of more than 700 Iraqis and could accept as many as 7,000 refugees through the 2007 fiscal year, which ends on September 30.

According to the Decatur daily, public opinion among Americans is that their country has accepted more foreign-born people than it can accommodate without overtaxing resources and taking jobs away from citizens.
Of course if some Americans don't like it, they should realize that it's a consequence of the war that they endorsed by their past support of Bush administration policy, even though public opinion has now turned against the war, added the paper.

Some refugees will probably want to become permanent US residents, but the United Nations says most don't want to come here and desire to go home when the fighting stops. Meanwhile, Americans will have the opportunity to get to know some people who can tell them about the real costs of war, the daily wrote.

My God! Don't we have enough foreigners on our soil? Aren't all the terrorists from Iraq?
We'll all be speakin' Iraqian before ya know it! Aren't we fightin' em' over there so's we don't have to here or somethin'?
I don't want my little girl exposed to Islamanism, I don't want her to wear a burqa! Do they git in the back of the line behind the Mexicans? Will they git welfare checks? What about our jobs, will they steal our jobs? Aren't they all a bunch of heathen beheaders and stoners? Don't they worship a false God five times a day?
Why there ain't widespread panic in the streets is beyond me bubba.
