Let us discuss more about Fred Thompson
Hey, I know what he's all about, and you you know what he's all about.

We tend to live in reality.

Some sobering facts:

**Ronald Raygun is a deity to ALL Republicans. (Sad, ain't it)
**75% of Republicans still approve of Gee Dub. (Sadder, by a long shot)
**None of the current Republicans can unite them, they all have major base issues.
**Fred Thompson can play the part. (They tend to like that, remember they don't deal very well with truth and reality)
**Fred gives the fundy element, the greeedy bastard element, the OOH RAH element something to get excited about.

He's a major Relublican contender early this summer.

1. I think you are correct in that assessment
because, like his god Reagan, he's an ACTOR. He's ready to play any part he finds written into a script.

The only fun part will be in watching what his campaign handlers do about that wife of his.

2. Ron Reagan's trophy wife was older, and didn't have fake boobies.
We must attack the trophy wife. We can't eliminate the brain-dead Fundie vote altogether, but we can make more of the Christofascisti uncomfortable with the man.

Oh, and it seems they were married at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Naperville, Illinois.

United Church of Christ? UCC? That's... that's... Barak Hussein Obama's denomination! They're CLOSET LIBRULZ!

(no, I am not kidding with this. Smear early, smear often.)

4. Whoa! check out the church's website URL!
http://www.loveandjustice.org/

They's PEACENIKS! Overtly so!

I'm telling you, this is better than the "madrassa" smear. We need to run with this.

He married his Hollywood trophy wife with the fake boobs in a peace-and-love hippie church.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

3. Is he a true ideologue like Reagan was...
or is he just in it for the money, I think the latter, most definitely the wifey is. He'll have to do a hell of an acting job to hide that fact.

5. Surface Vs. Substance
This really shows how ideologically bankrupt this party has become. I see this as the religious right...Tony Perkins and Dobson and his ilk...throwing their wrench into the works. They can't get any traction with Moonbat Brownback and the other candidates aren't the right flavor, so they've created their Manchurian Candidate...the surogate that will play any role you give him.

Thompson's got the act down. He can sound "down home" to the bible belters...tough on the war to the wingnuts...just program in what you want him to say and he'll ape the talking points and the GOOP sheeple will eat it up.

The wingnuts used to accuse the Democrats of living in Camelot...that we were trying to look for our next JFK or RFK, and now look what's happened to their decrepid and corrupt party. It's abused its power and put self interest ahead of "ideology" that brought us the booosh regime and the collapse of their power under their own largess.

Democrats should never think they won last year due to superior ideology or some massive shift from left to right as much as the marginalizing of the Repugnican party around 35% of the electorate and now that 35% is divided 10 ways. No matter who "wins" here, the sore losers will be large and either ready to sit on their hands next year or break off and go third party. Again, I've long predicted we'll see a third party challenge come from the right wing...Thompson is a "last chance" before the fundies bolt the "big tent".

6. let's discuss Fred Thompson
If memory serves, Fred's first wife's family bankrolled his college education, since they married so young. Can anyone verify?

8. also, if memory serves
The reason Fred and his first wife married so young was the rapidly approaching next generation of little Thompsons. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

9. wait - I thought the right wingers hated when celebs & actors started talking about politics?
other than Reagan and a few others of course.

Seriously though. I thought they hated when actors and musicians and the like spouted off about politics. Is there anything about the Conservative mindset that is not blind, hypocritical bullshit? I've often tried to treat conservative on a "everyone has their opinions" basis, that I could disagree but respect (sort of) their beliefs. Over the years, that respect has dwindled to nothing.

They bitch and moan about the Dixie Chicks but worship The Nuge. They complain about Michael Moore and Rosie and Clooney but worship Reagan, and now Thomson. They whine about small government, free market and state's rights, but only when it suits them, and their policies seldom matches their rhetoric.

What gives? And you know what sucks? Even if we do manage to smear him based on facts (which is honestly more our style), the spin machine turns it into "you just hate him because George Soros and Michael Moore tell you to!" Meanwhile, they can swiftboat and lie and bluster and people buy it. Hell, they wolf it down.

I'm feeling cynical this morning, but I'm not sure how much we can do against the corporate lap dog media whores.

What's to discuss? He's an actor. Whose sole strategy is...He's an actor. And if this country elects this man based on his celebrity, then we are basically screwed. We might as well elect Posh Spice.

Discussion over. Yay!!!!

Kevin O'Brien: I'll be damned.
CIA Director Marshall: So will he, if you believe the Old Testament.

Also, edited from IMDB.com ---

I used to love that show. Now it's a platform for right wing nuttery. And how is NY supposed to have a Texan for a DA anyway?

AND he supports free trade AND guest workers. Too bad the Republicans vote on personality and not issues, or else he'd sink like a stone.

20. Odd
How over at Lucianne and some other "we hate America' sites they are drooling over Fred.

He was a Senator (as long as Obama was, however, Obama is unqualified.)
He is a lawyer (yikes! I thought they hated lawyers, ask Edwards)
He was a lobbyist (Like this is a good thing)
He is an actor (I'm not a President, but I play on on TV, ain't that what we got now?)

One conservative rating service called him "lazy" as a Senator.

What's that I smell??? Oh desperation.
