NASA will also award Marsha Ivins its highest civilian medal. Remembered by many as "the nastiest woman I ever met", astronaut Ivins leaves an indelible impression wherever she goes.

1. She may have

given the nation's space program "outstanding contributions." I do recall however, many a Sailor having a retirement award either downgraded or withdrawn altogether for actions they took outside their job scope towards the ends of their careers. I do not begrudge her the medal, but others who receive it may feel slighted.
