"Bush Calls for Global Emissions Goals"
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush, seeking to blunt international criticism of the U.S. record on climate change, on Thursday urged 15 major nations to agree by the end of next year on a global target for reducing greenhouse gases.

Bush's proposal was welcomed by the leaders of Britain and Germany, who have been critical of the U.S. approach.

"I think it is positive, and the U.S. president's speech makes it clear that no one can avoid the question of global warming any more," German Chancellor Angela Merkel said in Berlin. "This is common ground on which to act."

8. We've been here before -- campaign 2000. He was bullshitting then. And now?
Never forget Molly Ivins's sage advice: Never listen to what Shrub says. Watch what he does.
