White House regrets failure to do more blog outreach.

White House communications aides are expressing regret for failing to utiltize bloggers as a way to “catapult Bush’s proganda.” Bulletin News (sub. req.) reports:

“We didn’t use the new tools of communication” like the Internet, blogs and mobile technology, said a former key official. As a result, added another official, the President’s message was filtered through the mainstream press which eventually got bored with the story and stopped reporting the President’s repetitive messages. “You’ve got to use the new tools. They can reach far more people than TV or the papers,” said an administration official. “A video on the Internet or some blogging can reach millions and we should have played with that much more,” said the official. White House insiders, however, dismissed the complaints, mostly from former communications officials, claiming that they have worked with bloggers and non-traditional media but that the tide has turned against them.

1. Poor Bush. He didn't know which one of "the Internets" to go to to find
the blogs. He should have asked Ted Stevens for help.

7. For sure. Ted could have built him a special internet out of two cans and a piece of string.

4. Please they are pissed that the blogs got around "their" controlled media.
A smelly turd is a smelly turd no matter how the turd is reported.

12. However, the "Turd" is often the source, or partial source, of
the discussion.

I hope for good (paid and unpaid) grassroots journalism in the future. Back to the way it should be: Hundreds of news outlets and not just a handful. The obvious countermove is to "gentrify/channel/block/outlaw/tax" the internet.

5. This is pure wish-fulfillment fantasy,

but wouldn't it be fun to watch the explosion if Gee-Dubya or Rove or Cheney posted on DU? After all, Conyers and John Kerry post on Kos and Elizabeth Edwards has been known to post here, so it's not THAT far out of the realm of possibility. I know Freeperville is a more likely venue--but what if they had some passing delusion about spreading their message to the opposition?

Edited to add: Who knows, maybe they do post here! Is it possible that one of the more inept hit-and-run trolls could actually *BE* Gee-Dubya? Rove and Cheney would last a bit longer, but probably not much.

8. Bwa ha ha!
These fucknuts didn't factor the Web into their little equation to pull the wool over the country's eyes. They would have succeeded, too, with their fellators in the mainstream media, if it weren't for those pesky kids and their durn Internets!

9. What a bunch of bull shit!
People talking and communicating among them selves is not propaganda, it's called discussion, free speech, debate or an exchange of ideas. The MCM controlled by a handful of individuals or corporations shoving one way communication down our throats with microscopic feedback spun to their own or government's desires is propaganda.

10. News Flash! Bush team regrets not using all means available to spread propaganda
Say secret informant we will call KR "The Big Lie just isn't big enough. And then we realized we could have been spreading it on the net all this time."
