Michael Moore to Testify at Landmark Sacramento Legislative Briefing on 'SiCKO' June 12

SACRAMENTO, Calif., May 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Filmmaker Michael Moore will testify at a landmark Sacramento legislative briefing on his stunning new documentary "SiCKO" Tuesday, June 12, the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee announced today.

The briefing is sponsored by state Sen. Sheila Kuehl, chair of the Senate Health Committee, and author of a sweeping healthcare reform bill, SB 840. The briefing for legislative co-authors of SB 840 will be followed by a big rally with Moore and Physicians for a National Health Program on the West Steps of the Capitol and then a special premiere of "SiCKO" for RNs, doctors and invited guests.

Leading up to the legislative briefing and rally, Moore, CNA Executive Director Rose Ann DeMoro, and Sen. Kuehl, will participate in an upcoming web chat about "SiCKO".

7. Kicking and comment.
I'm kicking this because California is the opportunity of having REAL single payer with Kuehl's legislation. Aaaarnold has already vetoed similar legislation with the expected results of almost no media coverage of the details of the legislation or the impact of Arnold's veto. True to form, though, the media jumped all over Arnold's health INSURANCE subsidation plan with ringing endorsements of the status quo plus. The plus being mandatory insurance coverage which does nothing to address the health care crisis and everything to do with bolstering the insurance industry.

Given that California has the strongest economy in the U.S., it holds a hellofalotta clout and is in a great position to destroy the predatory pharmaceutical and health insurance industry here. Hell, we could bypass the U.S. pharmaceutical market altogether and purchase from Canada.

So, I am calling all Californians that are able to show up at the rally. I plan on bringing some teenagers.
