I think I'm getting more spam since the so-called "Spam King" was arrested.

Usually I get about 150-200 pieces of spam a day. Today I've gotten well over 300 spam messages. Anyone else noticing an increase in spam since Soloway's arrest yesterday?

The bitch of it is, I have a Yahoo account as my primary email, and I have to go through my bulk mail folder to scan for legit emails that have been sent there by mistake (usually one or two a week).

2. Do you run your email through Outlook (or outlok express)?

Why I ask is I set up outlook so only the people I know will "Get through" outlook...
Everyone else gets deleted.

I use Netscape for all my Junk crap when I'm signing up for something.

5. I have a private Yahoo account for family and friends.

I've had it for... 10 years, now, I guess. It gets about 20 pieces of spam a year. My primary account is my activism account, so signed up for every progressive email list serve on the planet. Activism is also my job, so I often get emails from people I don't know, that's part of the job. So it it would be difficult for me to take you up on the Outlook suggestion, good as it is.

8. I'd like to get back to Outlook and/or OutlookExpress....but ATT made a change from SBC on Mar 18th

that caused me to lose the ability to use Outlook Express. AT&T can't/won't solve the issue and Microsoft and IBM says it's AT&T's problem. I've spent hours on the phone with them---trying to get it resolved. I really don't like yahoo email, but have to use it now.

I recently had to change the POP and SMTP settings but no problem with any of my boxes on it(Got 8)
But I refuse to use Lookout! based on MS security issues.

6. How do you tell if your computer's been used to send spam. Are there files/pgms you can search for?

My PC's been slower than a dog lately......and extremely busy buzzing when I'm on. Can't tell if it's all the auto monitoring and updates that run......or the PC's being 'used'. I'm wondering how I can check it out....and what I can do about this 'performance' issue. I might have to add a memory card.
