I don't get it...
I just posted a thread which honors our fallen soldiers and their families -- and which gives accountability to Bush/Cheney.

29 people read the thread, but did not respond.

Do Dems actually support our troops; or is this only a convenient thing to say?

6. i'm not sure I do entirely
it was a choice for them to join and they were lied to,
but the choice to kill people was one I could not make for myself
when I was offered and Airforce ROTC Scholarship.

I support them in the way I feel sorry for an abused child and want them to get help.

I don't support their continued feeling that their cause is honorable because I don't feel any war is honorable.

I am in a place of tired of one line phrases empty of meaning.

If i met a bunch of teenager or highschool kids I"d tell them NOT TO JOIN The army because that is tantamount to losing your personal freedom.

my video of Sgt. Kevin Benderman and his comment that all wars except the American revolution have been fought for financial corporate reasons makes sense to me now, this from a 10 year enlisted career soldier with great honor.

I think the swiss have it right, train everyone including women to carry a gun, fight when they enter your borders but stay the hell out of global warring.

that's my vision and if the troops there now are suffering, I support their immediate release from thejail that is iraq,
but I don't support troops in general or the concept of honorable wars..

7. No, we don't
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 05:26 AM by tkmorris
Actually we hate the troops, we just pretend that we care.

Or maybe, just maybe, your thread had an honorable intention but offered little upon which to comment. I mean, we could all say something like "Hell yeah! Go troops! Bush sucks!" but really what would be the point? Maybe you need to offer up something that actually inspires people to have a discussion. We have been supporting the troops, in VERY tangible ways, for over 4 years now. To suggest we don't pisses me off.

Oh and by the way quite a few of us ARE troops, or former ones.

8. do the marines or army support the troops might be a better question
from this DU thread, it looks like the marines will turn on their own
for showing a little freedom of speech..

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x2866420

to my point that you enter a kangeroo court system the minute you put on a uniform and have to be willing to work in a system where basic democracies such as freedom of speech etc. are suspended.

ask this, my friend, ask the army how they support troops that are hurt or that want to stay enlisted and working but as a conscientious objector prefer a noncombat situation.

their answer to kevin, was 'tough luck'

they lost a great soldier when all they had to do was keep him in Ft. Stewart GA rather than sending him to iraq , after his 2 tours of honorable service.

i feel in general the army is run but a bunch of egomaniacal men and that any future services might have to be more feminine centric to really accomplish anything positive worldwide.. then I could have faith in troops that truly protect versus wage global guerilla wars..

is determined by how many people respond to your thread? :eyes: Please. Someone's ego needs a little adjustment this morning.

12. deMOK, many of my threads
get few responses, and I've been here since 2003! I went to your original thread, and noticed 3 recs--that is a good sign that people do agree with you. Kindly remember that at this time of day (in the US, I mean), many folks are getting ready for work, and have little time to respond, but they did take the time to give you recs. Personally, I don't usually respond to a post that just gives a link. Part of it is time factor, but another is that I don't like to click on a link I really know nothing about. A little bit of the poster's opinion about the link will be more likely to get me to respond.

13. What exactly
does 'support our troops' mean? They have a job and they do it, like police, firemen, nurses, etc. If I put a shiny yellow ribbon on my car can I be in the 'support our troops' club?

19. Shit Dude, Ya Posted It At 5 In The Morning And Got 6 Replies And 3 Recs!
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 12:57 AM by OPERATIONMINDCRIME
You shoulda kicked it during the DAYTIME and maybe again in the evening. But if you post something at 5 am it would run a huge risk of sinking too fast for others to see upon waking. I think the fact you got 6 replies and 3 recs within the half hour it was in view, for 5 in the morning, was pretty good actually.
