CNN Reports Dan Bartlett Resigns, WHO IS LEFT? |
|
It is looking like the White House will have only Bush/Rove/Cheney/Gonzo left to carry on their duties.
Look who has resigned - Libby, Sara Taylor, Card, Bartlett, Ralston, Sampson, McNulty, Goodling
And applications to fill the open US Attorney slots opened by forced resignations are just a handful. And all the interim US Attorneys intended to skirt confirmation by Congress have to leave within 120 days now that the Patriot Act provision has been eliminated.
Are we seeing an implosion inside the White House and the DOJ? WHat about other Depts like GSA?
This is bad news without equal for Repubs.

8. Actually it's not all that rare.. As administrations wind down, people start to leave |
|
and the Toxic texan's not gonna hols public office anymore, so the job-gravy-train seems to be leaving the station ...empty..and pretty soon.
The rates will start leaving in bigger numbers as the time gets shorter.
They never were going to "tesitfy" or turn over documents that implicate their boss anyway.
What they will do, is call in their markers and ask for cushy set-ups with "friendlies"..and failing that, many will start their books..

11. While staff do start to leave, it is almost never this early --with few replacements in the wings... |
|
WHile there is an advantage to serving in the White House, even if only to pad the resume by serving out a lame duck term, there is a particular scarcity of qualified individuals waiting to fill these open slots.
Why is that?
Why would Bartlett resign without a replacement already picked and ready to step in?
IMHO this scenario means that the decision to leave was Bartlett's because of factors most important to Bartlett, not to Bush and his Administration.
However, it is possible that Bartlett's leaving was coordinated to make it look like the White House was 'out of the loop' when in fact the White House knows exactly what is coming down the pike that will implicate them. Bartlett's plate is far from clean.
Once Congressional Investigatory Committees' breach the confines of the White House, the ugliness will be thick and attached to everyone who has served there.

The evil is already embedded. There really is no need for anyone in the west wing except a skeleton staff.

He was named by Sampson and Goodling, and there are numerous emails connecting him. Wonder if he cleaned out his office yet?
