Dang looks like my senator is doing poorly in his run for president
Campaigning Brownback misses votes
By STEVE KRASKE
The news Thursday was that three of four senators from Missouri and Kansas voted for the Iraq war funding bill.

The fourth didn’t vote against the bill. He didn’t vote at all.

The culprit? That’s Sen.Sam Brownback, who was out campaigning in Iowa and missed one of the year’s most significant votes.

Turns out that the senator has skipped a whole lot of roll calls: In a Washington Post tabulation, he has missed just a mite short of a third of the votes this year. Of the 100 U.S. senators, Brownback has opted out of more votes than all but two.

<skip>

And money? Forget it. While Hillary Clinton was raising $26 million in the year’s first quarter, Barack Obama $25 million and Romney nearly $21 million, Brownback brought in $1.3 million and tossed in a $575,000 transfer from his Senate account.

5. Isn't he the one Fred Phelps came out and said the other day
that he talks to? Or am I confusing him with another amoral, unscrupulous, undignified, dishonest republican?

13. Oh HO! I had not heard that!
Isn't that special? Phelps just took the bottom totally out of Brownback's sinking ship. Too bad the latest polls here in Kansas said that Brownback would get about 80% of our votes for President. God we are a stupid lot (present company excluded, at least most of the time) ;)

15. I swear I don't understand why people like Sam
He never answers any letters or emails, which makes him a lousy representative. And he's just friggin nuts anyway.

17. Anti abortion, anti evolution, anti government,
anti self improvement, anti women etc etc etc. In other words, he is one of those guys who would be happy to think for you and then make decisions on what he thinks and that is anti anything that would actually keep us in this century. People seem to like that, it is almost like having your own personal minister governing for you so you don't have to think.

I don't know. He is a nice enough guy but damn, I don't get it either.

7. Good. While things can still change
I was worried that the religious right nutjobs would get behind Brownback, but that doesn't seem to be happening. There was a Rolling Stones (I believe) article on Brownback and his conservative credentials and how some bigwigs in the religious right saw that as propelling him to the Oval Office.

10. Unlike Repukes, I'm sure the Dems would have accommodated him ...
in 2004, Repukes scheduled a Veterans' bill at a time which forced Kerry to make a mad dash back to DC to vote ... and THEN the Repukes rescheduled the vote for another day ...

11. Anyone actually care that Brownback and McCain miss votes?
May they continue to campaign furiously and ineffectively while voting as seldom as possible, then go away quietly.

18. Just another Loser from the RWnut side of the planet....
Perhaps he believes that God will just install him?

I can see it now, angels singing, a parting of the clouds...a hand coming from the sky and plucking up Brownback, then placing him upon a Throne of Human Skulls. Patting him on the head, a voice booms from the sky..."Do my bidding faithful servant, open the doors to hell; for the apocalypse must be unleashed."
