The 60-storey house for just one family
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=459208&in_page_id=1770

This 60-storey house is for just one family.

India's richest man, Mukesh Ambani, is planning a palace in the heart of Mumbai with helipad, health club, hanging gardens and six floors of car parking.

His wife, mother and three children will live there with him, looked after by 600 live-in staff.

1. The lives of some people seem so retarded, don't they?
Like they don't even live on the same planet as the rest of us.

after he promised to change out all the lightbulbs to compact fluorescents.

Sounds like a whole village is living off of him.

17. Yeah, I like this idea. Housing and jobs for 600, and he's not adding
to suburban sprawl. I don't know how it is in India, but in the U.S. at least building up in the cities seems a lot lower-impact than building out in the country...

20. That's what I thought too
The question is "What will 600 servants be doing?"
Even with such a large building, is there really enough to keep 600 people employed full time.
Is is possible that either some of the 600 are employed in some kind of business that the family is involved with or that some of them are charitable cases (people who really would not be able to work a normal full time job).

26. I used to baby sit for a woman who was from
Nigeria. In Nigeria her family was rather well off and had servants. There were drivers who just waited around, just in case a member of the family wanted to go somewhere. They also had someone who drew the bath water for family members.

My jaw dropped when she said there was a hired person to prepare a bath for someone!

Wow!

30. Prince Charles has a servant to put his toothpaste on his brush.
Dwight Eisenhower had a valet to hold his shorts for him to step into.

The rich are different from you and I.

18. What is it about big money that makes people crazy??
I guess you have to have big money to know. They really aren't like us are they?

Gawd I'd hope that in all of that extravagant excess his family quarters are on one little corner of one floor of this monster and they have no servants. How can you have any kind of family bonding in that kind of "home"?

I'm truly amazed.

Did you catch these reader comments?

More power to him. I hope he has it earthquake proof. And also his brother builds one

- Raj, Columbus,OH

It's his money. Let him spend it as he likes, and if if blows up in his face, let him face the responsibility for his decisions. Either way, it's none of my business.

- Lane Lombardia, Stamford, United States

Talk about envy!!! If he wants to spend his money that way so be it and good for him. Who are we to tell him what to do with his money. Good grief. Socialist only want to spend other peoples money and not their own.

- Paul, DC, USA

Friggin' idiots. Something like this being built in a nation with one of the largest populations of people living in poverty, and these numbskulls can only think this far.

Poor America. No wonder we're in trouble.

Who wants to live in a tacky highrise? Buy several acres and build a real garden.
