3. No, I'm not going there. |
|
Of those choices presented, Dennis, John, and Barack look the most presentable, Dennis is the one I most agree with at this point, and I will most likely vote for him if I get a chance, but the other two have merits and they are better than the other offerings so far.
The problem is that the political discourse in the country is so corrupted that one cannot really discuss what one wants without going into a long circumambulation through other issues to avoid being misunderstood, and I'm not going to try to fix it here.

Too many flip-floppers, triangulators, corporatists, followed up by those who couldn't win if their lives depended on it.
No one of real substance, but with a "tough guy" persona (I wish that didn't matter) that can win the white male swing voters in the South and mid-West.

In fact, I would be happy with just about any of them. But I am backing Edwards right now.
Still, my respect for Biden increased when he voted "yes" on the recent Iraq funding. I think I understand why he did it, and it wasn't really capitualation. I think it was a show of courage on Biden's part to deliberately piss off the base in a primary when he was already behind.
But then, I have funny ideas about what constitutes political courage.

21. Kucinich? Tomorrow? You're delusional. |
|
Kucinich may well be the most qualified, on-message, consistent, focussed and principled candidate there is.
But, at the moment he has NO "star quality", no recognition or enough memorable "sound bites" out there.
WE all know he he has these qualities.
I know it's shallow, irrelevant and inconsequential, but....
Does... the public... know?????
I submit that he doesn't. And won't have tomorrow.

Any nominated Dem is going to be dogpiled by the MSM, but will get plenty of camera time with which to manufacture sound bites. Voting Kucinich in a primary is a long shot, of course, but there's nothing delusional in it.
Insisting that he will win would be. :hippie:

The media turns on *EVERY* Democrat; accept it. Kucinich is no different than Kerry in that regard, or Gore before him, or Dukakis, or Mondale, or Carter...
(Clinton's a special case; he provided an infinite series of scandal stories; they never actually "turned" on him.)

Were you not paying *ANY* attention during Dean/Kerry in 2004?
They fawn over a Democratic candidate until they decide to destroy them. Then some bullshit story (like the "Dean scream" gets constant airplay until the candidacy is dead). And the same sort of thing happened with Kerry. He was the new golden boy until he was nominated; then he was destroyed.
They do it to *EVERY* Democratic candidate.

31. Delusional? No. Realistic. |
|
The reality is that "star quality" is not what will provide the leadership, the principles, and the willingness to take action that this country desperately needs.
It's the most principled, focused, on-message, consistent candidate that will.
If voters had a fraction of those qualities, they wouldn't cast their vote for anything less.

|
If everyone voted for the "most sensible candidate," then he would easily win. He does not have the "best chance" because voters don't have the courage to walk their own talk, and put their votes where their issues lie.

And I plan to stay that way. Each candidate said something of value, but there's none that I'm "In love" with...so much so as to get excited about still almost a year out of the first primary and over a year from the election. What was said last night made good stuff for CNN to fill time with, but in a month or even a week, what was said last night will mean little.
Other than turning this election into a reality show, these early debates are little more than cute little exercizes in rhetoric.

likely to win in the general erection for which the media is already pushing massive doses of Viagra.
