5. I saw some little twerp from the WashPost slime her when he characterized
her team's response to the stories ("bash for cash") as being "surprised and unprepared" for these books.

so, by making a response to the release of the books, they're "unprepared?"

are they supposed to ignore them? what response would have satisfied this sneering little punk?

they just can't get enough of the Hillary bashing, not to say dembashing in general

apparently, according to Jonathan Alter, the book is very personal, focusing more on her 'up close and personal' side than on the political

and...the other book is by Jeff Gerth

"Fools for Scandal," indeed

23. I'm beyond caring what happens with these books.
And Hillary is not my candidate of choice. I'm sick of the Bushes the Clintons and their proxies. We need new faces and new ideas instead of perpetuating this dynastic clash the media has worked so hard to set up.

3. The MSM seems to be salivating over the prospect of
the potential dirt contained within this book. I don't recall the same buzz over the several Bush exposes written before the 2000 election.

I read Shrub by Molly Ivins and Favorite Son by J. H. Hatfield. Hatfield's reputation was trashed and he was found dead of an overdose of prescription drugs. He had received anonymous threats shortly before his death. I don't recall the MSM covering either book. Is my memory wrong?

24. Why do you think the media is so hell bent on making certain
that Hillary is the candidate? They get to follow Bill around again and speculate about his pizza orders.

The last thing on earth the Democratic party needs right now is to cast its eyes backward and to glom onto the Clinton era as its salvation.

6. is Dick Morris' book out yet? I heard a clip of him saying that Ken Starr
COULD have, would have indicted him over Whitewater, had Monica not sidetracked him?

Oh, REALLY, OReilly? (that's where he said it)

guess both of you forgot about the Pillsbury Report, which exonerated them

or the initial Whitewater trial, in which the federal prosecutor, in his summary, called the Clinton's VICTIMS of Hale, McDougal, and the other guy (former Arkansas governor)? remember how the rest of the media forgot that, too?

I told somebody at work about that trial, and they REFUSED to believe me.....looked at me like I said I could see her second and third heads today.

9. this is just the warmup for the real campaign, depending, of course, upon
whether she gets the nod.

you can be SURE that all the Whitewater lies will be dredged up again, and her reluctance to participate in her own inquisition will be held up as PROOF of her dishonesty

if she doesn't make it, watch how the well is being poisoned against all the other 'top tier' candidates, from Edwards to Obama to Gore. they really aren't paying any attention to the others at this point, because the MSM narrative allows none of them a chance, hence no attention paid, hence, no chance, hence no attention paid, hence.......

I'd like to see a breakdown of the INTENSE analysis of every aspect of Edwards', Gore's, Hillary's, Obama's existence over the last month or so, then see a comparison to that of Giuliani, for example

the lack of coverage of the relevant aspects of his bio is nauseating, and analogous to that of Bush's in 1999. You can be certain that, if St. Rudy falters, the coverage of Lobbying Fred will be similarly, fawningly selective, as already evidenced by that of Tweety and his sycophants

15. Are you serious?
You think a book about Hillary Clinton is going to be BORING to the RW masses drooling over her public crucifixion?

They've been primed for YEARS to believe that Hillary is the embodiment of all the evils "librulism" offers.

They knew her candidacy was coming.

And they've got their cannons loaded.

18. Ah, yes
I forgot about the distinction between "people" and RWers.

But, they control the media and thus, the talking points of the whole "debate".

This will be HUGH.

11. For whatever the reason - he is a loser
His very smart wife (Ephron) dumped him - Woodward went on to bigger ( but not ultimately better but more lucrative) things - he is trying to scrabble back. Even if I agreed with him, I would suspect his work. Too bad that he has to go the slur route to get some attention.

13. It's pure greed
Bernstein saw how many millions upon millions Woodward has made writing crap and decided to copy him. I'm sure it's a cut and paste job, with little original information. Of course he could have jumped on the anti-Bush book bandwagon but maybe he thought it was too crowded a field.

17. what's really really sad is that he's done some excellent, groundbreaking work
in the days not long after Watergate

his decline, for the most part, in the intervening years, has been sad to witness

he was the real 'genius' behind Watergate reporting. Woodward wasn't even a reporter, really, and, at one time, used to admit that fact

Bernstein used to lead him around by the nose

who knows his motivation for what he's doing now? lacking other rationales, money is the obvious answer

very sad
