Is it Friday again, Truthseekers?

Time for the weekly Washington document dump and resignation parade. Today brought the resignation of longtime Bush ally and advisor Dan Bartlett, who announced he is leaving the White House in July to spend more quality time with a special prosecutor (just kidding, but wouldn't it be loverly?)

Dan will now enter the private sector where his long career as a Bush apologist and "cleaner" will doubtlessly be rewarded with a fat corporate lobbying position.

And this flew under the radar screen yesterday: after his much-publicized speech about (finally) taking action on the effects of global climate change, Bush quietly held a media roundtable with foreign reporters about his upcoming meeting with soulmate Vlad Putin. The press peppered the callous cowboy with questions about Putin's very rational concern that the U.S. was reviving the Cold War by positioning missiles in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Raisin Brain replied: "He is a -- he is concerned about the missile defense system. He thinks it's aimed at him. It's not." Okie dokie then. That ought to set Pooty-Poot's mind at rest!

Also buried in yesterday's news cycle was the Pentagon briefing via telecast from Iraq called by General Raymond T. Odierno - top U.S. Commander on the ground - in which he expressed serious doubts that the troops would be able to meet the artificial timeline Bush mandated for a September surge progress report. "The assessment might be I need a little more time; the assessment might be I've seen enough and it's effective; or I've seen enough and it's not going to be effective," Odierno stated.

Meanwhile, Sec. of Death Robert Gates (in Honolulu) warned that we might have troops in Iraq 50 years from now. Gates told reporters on Thursday that the US was looking beyond its "surge" strategy to the type of military presence the US will have in Iraq over the long-term.
"The US is considering a long-term military presence in Iraq, similar to the arrangement agreed with South Korea. What I'm thinking in terms of is a mutual agreement where some force of Americans - mutually agreed with mutually agreed missions - is present for a protracted period of time," he said.

This little piece of blowhard skwawking is the reason I am up at four thirty in the morning, nursing a cup of tea. Milo called me first thing to ask me to take care of it (time difference be damned). He's far too busy working hard at doing his job this weekend to handle this kind of garbage himself.

My first response to the good "Colnel's" words was to simply delete them. Anybody who would wish death upon my husband over a blog post doesn't deserve to have his voice heard on this site. Nevertheless, I am always hesitant to censor others, regardless of my feelings about their commentary. The more I thought about it, I realized that deleting was not the best option. I prefer to drag this little rat out into the daylight for all to see clearly.

In an interview with CNN, National Assembly President Ricardo Alarcon was asked to react to comments by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who said while traveling in Spain that ``there must be a democratic transition in Cuba.''

Alarcon responded that he hopes ``there will be a regime change in your country.''

``A change from war to peace, a change (from) arrogance and this kind of interfering in everybody's affairs, and looking back a little bit at home and (facing) the real problems Americans have,'' he said.1

Alarcon also told CNN that ``the worst moments are behind'' Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who shocked Cuba and the world last July when he announced he was temporarily stepping aside in favor of a government headed by his younger brother Raul and a consortium of officials including Alarcon.

are mono like meet the beatles and I have the Vee Jay album that was the company that got sued because capital owned the rights . Something new was also in mono before stereo even came out . I had one of those one speaker record players too with the fat tone arm . I was 19 when Sgt Pepper came out and 8 tracks were just out .

The thing is, I easily manifest my emotions into my musculature, and I know it. A really good massage will sometimes make me cry, or leave me euphoric. My body was having a hard time letting it go and relaxing the shoulder to let the passive PT work.

He had a physical today, and appears to be fine. No changes recommended by his pediatrician in his med regimen, except to be more liberal with a half dose of clonidine when I need it either for him or me.

Iraq war can't be won: British army chief
THERE is "no way" the war in Iraq can be won by the United States and its allies, a former British Army commander said as he called for the troops to be withdrawn.

General Sir Michael Rose, who commanded the United Nations Protection Force in Bosnia-Hercegovina from 1994 to 1995, said coalition forces in Iraq were facing an impossible situation.

"There is no way we are going to win the war and (we should) withdraw and accept defeat because we are going to lose on a more important level if we don't,'' he said.

Though the coalition could not simply "cut and run,'' Gen Rose said announcing a withdrawal date would help to dampen down the violence between Sunni, Shia and Kurdish factions.

I was totally shocked when I called my repub mother's house today to get her opinion on my dress code for tomorrow, and her new boyfriend went off on the phone about how much he HATES Dimson** and it's bleeding over to the people who voted for him and still support him!! How in the hell he and my mother exist under the same roof is beyond me. That's part of the reason that I was late checking into the thread, I was calling friends who are just as shocked as I was!!! He was stringing profanities together that I hadn't and I thought were quite clever, but he's living with MY bush voting Mom?!!?? Geeze I was just surprised to find someone else on this planet locally who despises republics and Dimson** as much if not more than I do!

We've never gotten into a political discussion so why he thought it would be okay to go on a 30 minute diatribe on the phone with me, I'm not quite sure, but I listened and chimed in when I regained my capacity for speech!!! Dayuum! :hi: :hug:

Maybe he'll have a positive influence on her. I have three sisters who are repukes, we rarely discuss politics. The last time politics came up with one of them was New Year's Day. We had a huge fight and didn't speak to each other for about two or three months.

I got into a fight with one of my brothers, a rwinger from hell, CPA, at a family gathering, and it's no fun! I rarely talk to my siblings or extended family anymore.

as I am still in a state of shock over my phone conversation with my Mom's boyfriend earlier today (post to smokey nj)! The conversation was more detailed than what I wrote, but he's living under the same roof as my repug mother?!!? All that I could think during the conversation was, 'how in the hell do you two not go at each other's throats on a regular basis?'
