Thompson: "A lazy son of gun who would say at two in the afternoon, 'I'm done.'

Thompson's Senate career faces scrutiny as nears WHouse race

Snip>

"The consensus seemed to be that he didn't like to work real hard, but was good to have on your team," said a Senate Republican aide.

A veteran lobbyist said: "He was viewed as a lazy son of gun who would say at two in the afternoon, 'I'm done.' Can you name one major piece of legislation he authored? I can't."

Another lobbyist said: "I like Fred. But I'm not sure he has the energy to wage a long presidential campaign."

1. Following in the proud tradition of...
Ronnie "Naptime" Reagan and George W. "Nintendo Time" Bush. Another workshy Republican. How very shocking.

2. Bush wouldn't know a 'Nintendo' from a 'Bukake'
or perhaps video games are just the epitome of laziness to you.

16. Well, it's not the most productive thing a world leader can do with their down time
Or anybody else for that matter. Great fun, but not exactly industrious.

20. Not at all. I'm an avid gamer myself.
My comment referred to an article I remembered reading about Shrub around the time of the 2000 election. In it was a timeline of the Boy King's day, which started off with a run, some mountain biking and then a couple of hours of playing video games before he kicked into high gear and did a couple of hours "work." Lunch and phonecalls to cronies occupied the afternoon, then it was home for some more joystick time before hitting the sack at 9pm.

Naturally, these were precisely the qualifications necessary to land him the top job.

12. Spread the word about Thompson.
Lobbyist (Briber) for twenty years. Lazy. Registered foreign agent. The man who greased the votes in congress for the S&L catastrophe.

Yeah, right...a really **great** American.

Reagan, he's got it made.

22. We DO love our "avuncular" actors, do we not? That's what all these recent
Reagan and John Wayne stories and references are all about: Rehab the Republicans; make Bush seem like some kind of merely incompetent aberration; return to the Sunny Glory Days of "Mr. Gorbachev, take down that wall!"

Fool me twice.......

He just went to the Senate because acting Senatorial is what he does best.
