FOX NEWS Reporter calls Black Councilman a Son of a Bitch
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 09:17 AM by skiddlybop
Source: Fox News (sic)

BARRON: That was a real democratic sampling of the Venezuelan population. He's down there with one little group--

CAVUTO: Well count those people. You're a smart guy, can you count those people?

BARRON: Count the people, yeah, right--

CAVUTO: I see more than two or three!

HOUSLEY: I just came from the chavista rally! Tell him I just came from the chavista rally! You tell that son of a bitch I just came from the chavista rally!

BARRON: ...Talk to some of the millions that support Hugo Chavez!

...and, um, this would be the network that the Congressional Black Caucus wants to host Democrats for a debate?

Notice even the right-winger who runs TV Newser characterizes the Councilman as "taking aim" at the reporter and the reporter "responded."

Transcript shows the Fox reporter called a name first...but of course the black Councilman "takes aim" like a scary gangster rapper! Ooooh! Scary black Councilman is a gangster rapper!!!

(thanks for catching me... Another phrase you will never hear on Fox News (sic)

2. Since only bigots were watching, nothing will happen.
I have come to the conclusion that's the criteria.
Limpballs spews his hate and the other FAUX talking heads spread lies and propaganda, yet nothing happens to them.

3. He's a NYC Councilman, not a Congressman
And Charles Barron is awesome - super-smart, a very witty guy. I hope he DOES run for Congress.

5. nt
The racist part was in the account of it by TV Newser, characterizing the Councilman as "taking aim" when the reporter who called the name merely "responded," which itself is an untruth. The reporter called the name first. But the account of it turns it upside down in a racist way.

15. Basically the samething I said below
Sometimes I reply with the first thing that comes to mind, and THEN read the other responses. :D No matter, this is a non-story if you ask me. To me, he was calling him an SOB because he is an ignoramus with no argument but had no racial intentions whatsoever. For our side to inject race into the argument is asinine. It makes us look worse than him. Maybe I'm off base, but that's how I see it.

17. that's not the issue
what it is is a conplete disregard for mature conversastion. Derrogatory name calling has no place anywhere in the discourse of issues before a camera taping a supposedly credible news story. Blaming the councilman after the fact by saying 'he took aim' is like blaming a domestic violence victim for not knowing that what she may say or do will provoke her being beaten within an inch of her life and that she is to blame becase she cannot predict the future.

6. These right-wingers really get testy, don't they, when they are challenged?
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 09:47 AM by Judi Lynn
Guilty consciences. They know they are lying *-holes but they want so desperately to smear someone they can't hold back. They want to lie, and smear, and harm self-controlled, focused, intelligent people, but they can't do it without using dirty tricks, and underhanded, vicious attacks, and they know we know they know we know they are absolutely without conscience. They only mean to grasp, take, keep, and control.

They truly intend to control everything themselves. Consider what they have done to all the Democratic Presidents in our lifetimes. We have seen throughout, that they are incapable of grasping the concept of "sharing," or respecting, socially, or politically. That's why democracy is the LAST form of government in the world they would ever really want. Remember how they used to love to primly correct everyone, yammering we live in a "Republic," thank you.

They only use "democratic" when they are attempting to pass as human beings for a political advantage, as in Bush's idiotic claims he feels driven to bring "democracy" to other people, even if it kills them.

I had to go look up the photo of this clown to see just what kind of Fox man he is. No surprises when I found one:

Just as ridiculous as you'd expect. Not a trace of character on that nasty face.

10. Tipical rightwing propaganda

So much for the website being shut down, beware of the MSM, just because they are Fox does not mean that the rest is not extremly biased.

13. Oh, god! What a colossal a-hole. Lying as if there's no tomorrow, too.
Flipping hostile and defensive, isn't he? Guilty conscience.

Thanks for posting that clip.

Anyone who watches Fox really deserves to be completely in the dark. They apparently don't think the truth will ever come out in their lifetimes in time to catch them.

9. I heard the other day a whole lot of university students were protesting
aginst Hugo and his government.

It was ever thus with the young.... Such idealists, the youth in Venzuela. A credit to the tradition of the 2% or so. I wonder at what age the cynicism of the World and their social class got to them. Scary and depressing.

11. exercising one's free speech rights
and showing how utterly unable some individuals are to debate, yes, and I also enjoyed Joe Lieberman's turtle imitation in Iraq, along with his support of free speech; especially those soldiers asking when they get to go home.

What do you expect of self entitled people who decide they will speak for the oppressed? I wonder if this "newsman" was in LA when the police decided to let the "rubber meet the immigrant", I am sure he would have had the same kind of support for those who protested, no?

Convenient outrage, like faked orgasms only carry one just so far.

Regards
Pace

14. What difference does it make that he's black?
I mean, it shouldn't even come into play. He called a guest of the program a "son of a bitch" but not BECAUSE the guest was black. We should be up in arms about a whole lot of shit...this isn't one of them.

19. I never thought I'd agree with anything on Fox News
Charles Barron is an insane demagogue and I could never stand him. Particularly not after an incident when he was supposed to speak to my mom's organization.

Granted, calling him an SOB was bad form and oh-so-typical of Faux. I'm wondering why the fuck anyone is surprised.

20. The oddest part of this is the idea of how wildly low American tv news has fallen
from its original model, and the years and years of notable American television journalists, many of whom had been distinguished print journalists earlier who moved to tv.

It's hard to live with the idea this is the medium which used to be the home of actual reporters who did honest, respectable, dignified work informing the American public. Could you actually imagine one of them squealing "that son of a bitch" during his report? I don't THINK so. They would have never considered it.

Temper tantrums, trying to force a political agenda/spin down anyone's throat would have NEVER been even remotely entertained. Too childish, too shabby. Third rate altogether.
