Explosions As US Warplanes Circle Baghdad
http://www.javno.com/en/world/clanak.php?id=49469

U.S. jets and helicopters circled over Baghdad amid the sound of explosions and heavy machinegun fire on Saturday evening, residents said.
A Reuters journalist saw at least one air-to-ground missile streak through the air before hitting the ground with a bang and a large flash.

The military activity appeared to be centred around the Shi'ite stronghold of Sadr City in northeastern Baghdad, the residents said.

Iraqiya state television said U.S. warplanes were bombarding Habibibya, an area in Sadr City.

There was no immediate comment from the U.S. military which has been hunting four five Britons kidnapped in Baghdad last week and has also staged several raids in Sadr City aimed at a militant cell it says is linked to neighbouring Iran.

4. It's the "Fallujah" plan for Sadr City.
If people haven't stopped the insurgents from there by now they must be collaborators. I'm suprised the B52s aren't carpet bombing yet.

5. White phosphorus

"Fraile grey smoke where they'd burned off the rice fields around a free-strike zone, brilliant white smoke from phosphorus ("Willy Peter/make you a buh liever"), deep black smoke from 'palm, they said that if you stood at the base of a column of napalm smoke it would suck the air right out of your lungs."

US troops used white phosphorus as a weapon in last year's offensive in the Iraqi city of Falluja, the US has said.
