5. Is pnhp making any special plans to capitolize on SICKO?
I haven't heard a thing from them about it, and I had hoped that they were strategerizing the last couple of years.

With the "top tier" ignoring HR676, it's time for some pressurizing....

:kick: and a big recommend!

12. THanks! Now I remember seeing that. I hope there will be BIG actions across the country!
I also wish they could do something to promote the viewing by low-income people, because we badly need their votes on this, not to mention the letters and calls leading up to votes!

Here in Colorado, there is a state initiative, but I don't think there's been much of a push.

6. I put that website up every chance I get. We
can't put it up enough times. It's a great source for all the facts and debunking propaganda lies from the for profit health care insurers and HMOs.

36. Thank goodness we have people out there who really care!
I will share this and it opens up one more door to my goal.:grouphug:

I am the mother of a 39 year-old with multiple sclerosis. My son is loosing a lot of his brain and kidney function due to atrophy that is occurring in his entire body. We finally got him the care he needed a year after the first attack but when he finally received his Medicaid the MS Specialist would not take the HMO insurance Medicaid gave him and he had to start again with incompetent neurologists who didn't have a clue what to do for him and wouldn't listen to the MS specialist! For this reason he almost lost his life!

Then a year after that we heard about a wonderful neurologist at the USF Medical Facility in Tampa and we have been taking him over there! It has helped him a lot but he is still in very poor shape. Because my son is an adult with no children I and his step-father were his sole support for over a year and a half and we almost went bankrupt over it as we are both retired. Dealing with this is a very challenging thing in the greatest land in the world - we are slowing loosing our greatness to the ravages of Corporate welfare contracts and tax breaks for the wealthy that don't have a clue what is really happening in the real world of the USA!

As the old saying goes, "Charity should begin at home!". Billionaires like the Bill Gates Foundation along with Buffet are more interested in the Global world, and it seems they like most of our politicians are lost in the inadequacies that we have right here in the United States! I wish they would help us here and globally too! I asked not for a handout but a hand up to the quality of life that we value so much in this country. Like the presentation said we have enough to do it if we can get the for-profit big boys out of the life and death business of health care!

39. Give your son a hug for me!!
Sadly, your story is becoming more and more common, and there is NO REASON for it, as you so eloquently state!

:nuke:

"the quality of life that we value so much in this country."

Ihave come to the sad conclusion that the "values" are only personal. It looks very much to me that USians have completely lost the ability to empathize with others. As a people, we don't seem to know how to walk in the shoes of other people.

It's really pathological!

As for the issue about giving to the rest of the world, and ignoring here.. We have so much $$$ to do both! I don't know if you saw it in that thread with the "myths", but the US places almost LAST in what they give to the rest of the world. We just like to blow our own horn.

We are a very selfish people. I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Best wishes to you... thanks for sharing your story, and I'll be thinking of you. I hope you will find some time to do what you can to further the cause of Universal Single Payer Health Care For All!!

15. It's open to all nurses--"medical professionals"
I know that Colorado also has a nurse's organization that is working for HR676, and I would assume that other states also do.

Please spread the word among other nurses!

THANKS! :bounce:

29. The "national" nurses org may NOT be... but there are nurses organizations that are.
I know, because Colorado has an active one.

There's also a Social Workers group that works for HR676.

I hope you can find your local organization! IN the meantime, please join pnhp!

31. Yes, I'm in Colorado, and have been very active in health care issues.
On the homepage, there is information about the proposal for Colorado, written by Dr. Rocky White of Alamosa.

I hope you'll familiarize yourself with it, and start talking it up, and maybe volunteering some time for this important issue!

26. Fantastic Information - Writing dissertation on health care not-for-profit HMO
This is great! I am going to be able to do a lot of research and use this in my dissertation I am doing on the not-for-profit HMO's! My son has been a "victim" of one of the HMO's used in Florida for Medicaid and believe me it is a crime what they get away with! Tri-Care Prime for our military families like myself is not much better! Kaiser Foundation is working hard on this as is Georgetown University if anyone is interested!

Thank you for the post!!! :yourock:
