Plame Leak: All roads lead to Cheney, Congress must act
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 08:18 PM by usregimechange
"To accept the argument that Mr. Libby's prosecution is the inappropriate product of an investigation that should have been closed at an early stage, one must accept the proposition that the investigation should have been closed after... there was an indication from Mr. Libby himself that his disclosures to the press may have been personally sanctioned by the Vice President." ~PATRICK J. FITZGERALD, Special Counsel, sentencing memorandum, May 25, 2007

"Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by Cheney and other White House "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq, according to attorneys familiar with the matter, and to court records." National Journal, Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006.

"There is a cloud over what the Vice President did that week. . . . He had those meetings. He sent Libby off to Judith Miller at the St. Regis Hotel. At that meeting, the two-hour meeting, the defendant talked about the wife. We didn't put that cloud there. That cloud remains because the defendant has obstructed justice and lied about what happened. . . ." ~PATRICK J. FITZGERALD, Special Counsel, closing arguments February 2007

I demand to know what the Vice President did in this matter and I demand that congress obtain that answer ASAP!

Do you agree?

3. yes, esp. since he was Libby's Superior and
should have been held responsible not the underling, he is also the driving force in the nuke Iran faction and it would be a good
idea to hold him accountable for his actions.

5. Congress could certainly stand to investigate it
along with the dozens of other investigations it needs to do.

The problem is that Scooter didn't roll over on his boss. He is the type of loyalist who would make a Mafia Don proud, someone willing to ruin his own life to save the comfort and privilege of a dirty boss.

Face it, justice may have to wait until Cheney is on his deathbed and he realizes that everything he stabbed people in the back to gain here on earth is worth nothing, he can't take power, wealth, or privilege with him.

6. in Bushco, it's always the lowest to go, not the superior
it's always Private X, or Sgt. Y, who is guilty of abuse, not the ones that drafted the torture memo or encouraged "enhanced
interrogations" and with Libby, it's no different, it's not his boss that is held accountable but him.

It reminds me of that movie the Petite Charm of the Bourgeois

9. No but we should know what he said under oath, ie who leaked
to him from the CIA, what instructions he gave Libby, etc.

7. Sadly, if anyone falls under 'executive privilege', Cheney does. He'll
never testify imo.
