2. And General McCaffrey says we're there another 3 years?!
From the end of the article:

Retired Army General Barry McCaffrey, a ground commander in the 1990-1991
Gulf War, said he's trying to remain optimistic but thinks domestic support for the war will evaporate within 36 months.

Did I read that correctly? Please, tell me I'm wrong. Please, someone tell me he didn't just say that we'd still be fighting this war three years hence, during which time domestic support will evaporate.

I parsed that wrong, right?

10. ProSense, I am boycotting many war profiteering corporate news monopoly sites
and don't want to click on them or give them any traffic. I would prefer to know the source before I go there. Sometimes the date helps, too, in evaluating the OP info and deciding whether I need to know more.

7. The Bush junta has accomplished everything
they set out to do. They have raped Iraq for it's oil and to secure a permanent U.S. military base/presence in strategic southwest Asia. They have destroyed our Constitution, stolen or manipulated two presidential elections, stacked the Supreme Court, destroyed checks and balances, bankrupted this country with a crippling debt, further and obscenely enriched the richest 1% and benefitted the major corporations, effectively controlled national news media so that it is nothing more than propaganda for the regime, and even managed to create their own mercenary army (Blackwater). Congress hasn't done squat. I don't expect to see any spines and backbones growing on the Hill anytime soon either. The people haven't rioted in the streets so they've gotten away with it all. I'd say this "leadership" was fucking brilliant. Horrible, evil, fascist, arrogant, sneering --- but they accomplished every goddamn thing they set out to do. A tragedy for what was once the U.S.A. A tragedy for what was once our democracy.
