In order for Good to prevail, must there be an equal distribution of pain?
I was thinking about the Harry Potter writer's dilemma and wondered if it imitated real life. According to the story, there's a prophecy that states that in order for evil (Voldermort) to die, Harry must die too.

I think of all those good civil servants who have sacrificed their careers to become whistle blowers and I wonder, in order for Dick Cheney and Bush to be brought to justice, how many more good people are going to have to sacrifice to do it? Or is there an easier way? If all the good people in Washington came together and moved in force, wouldn't it be a way to protect our boy scouts and keep them in their jobs, where as veterans, they can watch over young upstarts who still want to make their bones and who are willing to cross the line to do it?
