A Debate I would like to see...
Edited on Sun Jun-03-07 09:31 PM by Labors of Hercules
In addition to the separate Democratic and Republican debates, why not have the Democratic candidates TEAM UP and debate the Rupublican candidates in a true Collegiate style face-off?

Moderated by a panel made up of affiliates from PBS, NPR and MSNBC, We should be able to ask hard-hitting (but fair) questions to the opposing party candidates, (just as a few Republican plants in the audience did to our candidates tonight).

I want to see our Democrats SMACK DOWN the entire Republican field on their horrible records, pathetic agendas, and the terrible mess they'll continue to heap on us if any one of them is elected President in 2008.

2. Nice idea, but just how long would you want THAT to last?
You've seen how little time each candidate gets to answer anything with only 8 candidates on stage! Double that number, and I'm afraid you'd end up with a completely uncontrolable caotic mess. Maybe after the field narrows on both sides, there could be some kind of a competing panel discussion, but I think it would have to be reduced to no more than 3 on each side.

5. Actually I'd rather see them all sitting at a table
With no moderator. Sitting down and having a debate eliminates the visuals of hieght and wieght for the most part and allowing the participants to discuss issues freely amongst themselves. Just have the media schmuk introduce them and say goodnight. That's it.

8. Sweet idea.
I like that one, and it would be really interesting. The moderator would have to stay, though, to make sure things stay sane and at a decent pace. Other than that, let them go. :)

10. Yeah you're right about that
Just to keep it from turning into Jerry Springer but then even that affords us the opportunity to judge thier temperament. No more hotheads with thier finger on the button aka Bush.

11. It would be fun to see it they'd take the bait.
It would also be interesting to see if they could think their way through a situation at all instead of just jumping to talking points and emotion. It would be cool.

12. Agreed
They would actually have to engage each other instead of all this 30 second talking point rebuttal BS. Watching debates nowadays seems like watching an ad. :puke:
