1. Physical presentation is unimportant in my opinion
they shouldn't even televise the debates. It lets the media butcher the process and focus on largely meaningless stuff. Remember all the Gore was "stiff" crap?

26. Uh huh. And that's why Kucinich is so electable in today's media-driven process...
And yes, I'm being sarcastic.

One of my peace-movement friends has been a Kucinich fan forever, I think. During the 2004 election he commented ruefully that if we were still in the age of radio, before television, Dennis Kucinich would stand a better-than-even chance of winning the presidency. But not today.

I don't know that the electorate would actually go for Kucinich based solely on his ideas, but I do know that his homely appearance is against him. That may be sad, it may be infuriating, but it is true.

It is IMPORTANT for Hillary to look as good as she possibly can, and it matters more because she is a woman. It always does. That may be sad, it may be infuriating, but it is true.

Hekate

44. You're right, but we can't turn back the clock.
Roosevelt could run the country without anyone knowing he was in a wheelchair, but that day is long past.

Any candidate we put forward has to be able to handle television.

At least we're not dredging NYC cop shows for actor-candidates.

10. She came across much better on TV than by just audio
Her voice is kind of grating but when I started watching the debate on CNN web feed I thought she looked awesome and came across as very presidential. Her voice didn't bother me when watching her as apposed to just listening to her.

I think her hair style was better than in the past. She looked great!

I agree that we have some beautiful-inside-out women who claim the democratic moniker.

BTW, I, too, thought Hillary looked fantastic. I hope she sticks to that hairstyle. It is very flattering. Her outfit, jewelry and makeup were also impeccable.

I thought Dennis looked great, also. I wish he would brush his hair upward off the forehead, though. I love Dennis. I think his elfish looks are adorable, and looks should never determine whether someone is presidential material; but, looks can be icing on the cake if everything else is great. Hillary's blue eyes are also quite beautiful.

20. THat isnt always true
I wasnt born yet, but I have heard the reference many times to the Nixon-Kennedy debate where people watching TV thought Kennedy won because Nixon's appearance was awful, and those who listened on the radio thought Nixon won. So, appearance can be very important, especially in the official Presidential debates.

The overly round face and puffy features are a hint. If it's habit (the pursed lips as well) her handlers ought to train her out of that.

She does need to lose the shoes. They make her look mousy. Flats are one thing, Minnie Mouse is another.

in my observation, women with hormone imbalances frequently have faintly puffy smooth tissue (which makes their features net out as "rounder") and faintly bulging, and also moister, eyes (which makes them look "brighter"). Sorry, it's a correlation I've noticed, your mileage may vary.

69. Does it matter?
You started this thread simply commenting on her appearance, not what others have said about her. Well, I agree, but I also thought Obama looked good, as well as Edwards and others.

59. Joe Biden's suit was very nice.
And his hair was perfect. Do you think he might be a werewolf?

70. I wasn't aware that the RW had bashed her appearence so soon.
I figured that would come tomorrow with the morning hate talk shows. I thought she looked good actually. Much better than she's sometimes looked in the past.

You don't really think Biden is a werewolf do you?

82. Any superficial beauty
she may have been channeling certainly melted away and showed her inner ugly when she started talking about how much safer we are now and how the Iraqi's are the ones responsible for not picking their dusty bombed asses up off the ground by now and resolving their own problems.

83. Mods?
Can we please have a forum like the 911 dungeon, but with less visibility, where the discussions about how women look threads can take place in peace without the derisive comments of annoying feminists like me?

I would volunteer to write their mission statement.

84. Aren't you one of the people who scream
when a woman's appearance is mentioned? I don't get it...

Oh, it's ok if it is a POSITIVE opinion?

especially the shoot she did for Spy Magazine:
