So what else does Victoria Toensing decide?
She apparently believes that she is the sole arbiter of who is a covert agent. Director of the CIA? What could he possibly know that Victoria Toensing doesn't? Pull out Valerie Plame's file, and it may say covert, but could she possibly be covert without Toensing knowing about it? After all, she wrote the law and therefore must be the final judge of every case where the law could be applied.

But why stop there? Victoria Toensing must be in charge of deciding other things too, like whether it is going to rain today or what will be on sale at the grocery store. What else does she get to decide?

3. There was an article----
about when the regulations for this bill were written. The person who helped the congress and Lloyd Bentson write the bill said Toensing was only a typist who help get the bill ready. SHE DID NOT HAVE ANYthing to do with any of the regulations that were written. Now that's from someone who really did have the bill written.

6. But that's not what she says!

According to her, she's the foremost arbiter on covert agentness in the world, because she wrote the legal language defining it. Since she wrote the bill, she's automatically in touch with every agent in the CIA, and gets to decide their status.

(snip)

Perhaps no recent incident has drawn as much interest and speculation as diGenova's role as an anonymous source for the Dallas Morning News. The melodrama began when Toensing was approached by an intermediary for a Secret Service agent who was said to be willing to testify that he saw Clinton and Lewinsky in a compromising situation. DiGenova passed this on to Morning News reporter David Jackson ("Joe and I exchanged a few words over that," Toensing says), and the paper published the story in its Internet edition, attributing the account to an unnamed lawyer "familiar with the negotiations." But by then the intermediary had told Toensing the agent was backing off.

Hours later, the Morning News retracted the report, saying the "longtime Washington lawyer" had said the information was "inaccurate."

The couple now say that Toensing, taking a call from Jackson hours before deadline, told the reporter: "If Joe is your source, it's wrong."

"The bottom line is, they were told not to print and they chose to print," diGenova says. "I don't know how much more helpful you can be to a newspaper than to tell them not to print."
