Don't think you can take on Limbaugh? Well, THINK AGAIN. Here's the PROOF - We did it.
My wife found out I was listed on the IMDB (Film people's database), but it was incomplete, so we did more research, as the REASON I am listed on there was for appearing on two shows in rapid fire, The O'Reilly Show, and Scarborough show - the Reason?

We kicked the shit out of Limbaugh with a BOYCOTT back in 2003.

Here's the Link to CBS's "Market Watch" About it:

Though still in its infancy, a letter-writing campaign aimed at advertisers on "The Rush Limbaugh Show," has already claimed a few choice scalps -- and hopes to soon have other marketers saying "ditto."

Kicked off last week on the website of a group called Take Back The Media, the effort is generating a growing buzz among online progressives (or, if you prefer, "liberals") -- along with hundreds of angry e-mails to companies that sponsor what it calls Limbaugh's "hateful chortling and guffawing."

Micheal Stinson, a Vietnam-era veteran, is co-founder of Take Back The Media. Obviously never a Rush fan, Stinson and his cohorts were content to largely ignore the king of reactionary talk radio -- until he weighed in on the recent anti-war protests, calling participants "anti-American," "anti-capitalist" and "communists," among other terms.

"He just went too far," said Stinson. "Don't call me anti-American. I served this country."

When he decided to go after Limbaugh, Stinson said "we were told we would have to nip at his heels, to start by contacting local advertisers." He ignored that advice, however, and posted a list, complete with contact information, of top sponsors.

"Within 18 hours, RadioShack had folded. Within 36 hours, Amtrak was gone and Bose told us they were no longer advertising on the show," Stinson said.

Oddly, Stinson's group is not only telling the rest of the world which companies advertise on Limbaugh's show but, apparently, even the companies themselves.

In RadioShack's case, the company maintains that it does not buy ads on Limbaugh's show and any that did air were the result of an "error made by the radio network or local affiliate."

RadioShack, the company continued, "strictly adheres to a policy of not intentionally buying advertising space on programs that might be political or socially controversial or that promote any one individual's agenda or point of view."

Amtrak says the ads aired as part of a complicated barter deal involving, strange but true, the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau. It does not sponsor political shows and "'in the future...will communicate practice to" other partners.

Although Stinson said he has reports of its ads appearing during the show, a spokeswoman for Bose told CBS.MarketWatch that its does not advertise on the program, "and has no intentions of doing so."

RED LOBSTER, GEICO, SEE'S CANDIES and Many Others DROPPED Limbaugh Like a Hot Potato. It CAN BE DONE.

Believe it or not, the Freepers are STILL talking about me and that O'Reilly show and it's been FOUR YEARS!!

Which led me to wonder.. can we liberals take on LIMBAUGH AGAIN? We've shown that it can be done, and with the Elections coming up, wouldn't it be a good idea to Hobble that GASBAG?

Wouldn't it be a GOOD THING for the DU to TAKE SOMEONE ON THE RIGHT OUT for once, instead of each other? :)

really can't stand that gasbag, I was amazed as well as just how FAST they dropped him.. like kids caught with their hands in the cookie jar, or Bart Simpson, "Don't blame ME, I didn't DO IT!"

It was OUR campaign, though I was catching some major crap from the nutballs out there, it took ALL Of the writers to get these corps to drop that RACIST pig.

Thanks for bringing that up :)

52. Some of them now advertise on Air America
and maybe we should give a pass to the ones who do? Spreading your money around is just standard business practice. Seems like we should focus on the ones that support Limbaugh but NOT progressive radio.

Oreck now seems to be on every other break on my AA affiliate. (I remember during the boycott/letter writing campaign they wrote me back saying they do bulk buys and couldn't control whether they ended up on Limbaugh. I fired back that they had better get a grip!)

Welch's too--I remember years ago hating to have to boycott them. Now they've got a few no-frills spots on AA.

54. They can feel free to advertise anywhere they want to
would be my answer, but if they Advertise on Limbaugh and ASSIST his racism and hate speech then they should be boycotted until they STOP that.

I don't have any problem with them advertising on Air America, they should. Once they dump Limbaugh we can Praise them.

Yeah, the old, "I don't have any control" excuse.. we punctured that one. It's a LIE... :)

8. DU told us to email person advertising on Made in the USA
Someone on DU gave us a link to a site about things Made in the USA> on the site there were companies who made goods in the USA. But at the bottom the person running the site had a poll asking which democrat should be hanged.

I email the company that sold jeans and informed them and asked them why the advocated hanging democrats. I got two emails back...they told me they are as upset as I was and can't not contact the one running the site. They want their name taken off. The gentleman who emailed the second time said he was very upset. He could not understand why someone would use their name in this way. And as soon as they can, they will make the guy take it off. So you are correct........IN SOME INSTANCES IT WORKS.

Good for YOU, glad you showed them that it's OUR MONEY, and if THEY want it, they need to Cut the Crap, and quite supporting people who like Limbaugh are RACIST for one thing.

that arouses as much ire as the nappy-head remark. Knowing Limbaugh, it's only a matter of time. Then we can pounce.

He knows it to! Won't be easy, but the snarky racism is part of his nature. It will emerge.

THIS is where we can SLAM the guy. Like Imus, I Truly believe that if the MAJORITY of the american Public KNEW that someone was playing "Barack the Magic Negro" that they'd go BALLISTIC.

I think I heard that CHEVROLET was using Limbaugh, or that someone has heard the RACIST song by Limbaugh in their show room.

THAT is INEXCUSABLE.

A good role model? I can think of a few people that may think otherwise :)

Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 10:31 AM by symbolman
the names of the TOP SPONSORS of Rush Limbaugh..

If anyone wants to list them, we can get to work on this, we had folks listening in on Limbaugh's broadcasts (immediately BLEACH the INSIDE of your ears after), and they'd send us lists of local Sponsors, and in some ways this was helpful, as we could identify where in the country the trends were, and if the Larger Sponsors were advertising for Limbaugh EVERYWHERE or just in Big Cities, etc.

LISTS of Sponsors, post them here if need be and then we'll sift through them and see where we need to hit them.

Tell the Folks you're speaking to that WE NEED THEM, ALL OF THEM.

I'll have my web master get something together on Takebackthemedia.com if I can get some folks HELPING on this, and it will take LOTS Of people WRITING letters, emails, phone calls, etc.

And THANKS for the offer!

23. Money comes from the bottom. Propaganda comes from the top.
That's what entered my fuzzy head this morning. I'm all for it. Since the judicial system doesn't work, even when caught red handed on tape, I guess we'll have to.

But this notion of how big money props up a phony pig. Yet the reality is, there is no bigger money than that which comes from the multitude of buyers.

All we have to do is not be divided. And the slightest threat will send even the most powerful scrambling. We the people never ever use our own power.

Don't give up. You might have to keep posting this stuff a few times.

I confirmed this myself last month. Someone had posted an old list of sponsors, and I contacted AutoZone. They emailed me immediately and assured me that they do not sponsor his show and they requested that anyone who hears an AutoZone spot during the program to please notify the company with the date/time/call letters of the affiliate.

Please, let's make sure that any info we post here is current and accurate.

Sorry for shouting, but that is an ANCIENT List, culled from our site.. can't use it.

Gotta be NEW. And part of the Rules are that we Don't hassle anyone, every letter is CIVIL and Decent - when a company decides to leave Limbaugh is when we write to THANK Them for doing the right thing.

Like I said upthread, we need a CURRENT List, so that means we need EARS at this point. Someone has to listen to Limbaugh, as well as check out his site and see who's ads are there.

We'll have more luck with Radio Sponsors than the online scene, but it's all a piece of Limbaugh's PIE.

I'll site down with the webmaster at Takebackthemedia.com and see how we can reIgnite this, then give everyone an email address to utilize for an ACTION against this pig.

We need to work TOGETHER, each of you think of a list of MANY orgs and folks you can gather to WRITE or call if you will.

As Gregorian said, AS A GROUP we are VERY POWERFUL, and they KNOW it.

Screw VOTES, we have MONEY :)

(BTW, I'm on Pacific Time, so if I am a bit slow in responding or do it at funky hours, that's why)

I don't believe that we even TOUCHED on the Racism he expounds the last time, and THAT is what I'd use to Split the Log on this round.

Anyone recall when he said, "Take the BONE out of your nose.."?

He's got a thousand of them.

And if any corps has wandered back, then they need to be REMINDED, esp during this PRESIDENTIAL RUN season.

Political? Gee, Rush Says HE'S NOT Political, he's ENTERTAINMENT.. Okay, then let's say this BOYCOTT is SHEER ENTERTAINMENT.

We're BORED. :)

I'm going to take a pass on them unless somebody makes a good case that we should go after them. I can't stand Limballs, but if an advertiser is willing to buy air equally I really don't have a problem with that. Here are the one's I know that support progressive talkers:

Oreck
Sleep Number Beds
Avacor
Geico
OnStar

Pfizer also has ads on progressive radio. Fuck them. They're pure evil. Watch the movie "The Constant Gardener" if you haven't already. It's based on their phony drug "trials" in Africa that led to the deaths of countless innocent children from bacterial meningitis.

29. Me too - and speaking of boycotts, I've not watched ABC since
they made the decision to create & telecast the Path to 911 movie last year - knowing it was filled with lies and innuendos. I gave up 30+ years of daily watching 'All My Children', and a few other programs. Honesty and integrity on the airwaves is far more important to me. I hate anything that pushes propaganda in the guise of news or current events.

I'm ready, willing and able to boycott the sponsors of propaganda.

that's Exactly what a movement like this needs, the ripple effect, get it out there to groups like those, and Atrios, KOS, etc - as many people writing as possible..

Appreciate it!

So far over 2000 folks have viewed this thread, imagine if 2000 LETTERS or emails blasted into a corporate MailBox? THAT will make a splash.

The other thing that works is the Share Holders, the officers in charge of those shares, those who Vote in that system, don't want any Trouble.. especially with a Racist DRUG ADDICT. I think that really tipped the scales as well the last time, when we were able to hit them over the head with Limbaugh's DRUG Problem.

Doing enough each day to kill a family of polar bears. I'm a pain person, with the amount of Oxycontins he was using he HAD to be handing them out as candy, that many pills a day would CHOKE a Toilet, let alone kill a man, or a poor excuse for one.

BTW folks, I'm already getting HATE MAIL, so that means the WORD is getting out there :) COWARDS, seen them before, trained to deal with them in the Military.

39. Please, please - Let's go after Barnes & Noble, bigtime Rush backers
For years now, Barnes & Noble has been a principal sponsor of his website (look for yourself). Of all the rotten things a seller of books could sponsor, the anti-intellectual, uneducated and hateful ignoramus that is Rush Limbaugh has to be just about the worst.

Please, people, do not patronize Barnes & Noble, and let them know why. I have e-mailed them - and respectfully - but surprise, surprise, I have never gotten a response.

44. Here's your proof. Thanks for your good work.
I don't want to patronize any of his sponsors, but it really fries my cheese that a seller of ideas - a purveyor of thought through the written word - links its name with the execrable Rush Limbaugh. Check the bottom of his website (this time, although B&N has traditionally taken the banner position). http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html

This has been going on for years, and my voice has certainly not been heard. I hope you will share my particular outrage at a book seller supporting this profoundly ignorant, bigoted man who has done incalculable harm to honest discourse.

And it is Profoundly Disturbing that a seller of IDEAS would back this Racist pusher of HATE SPEECH.

And that's what it is Folks, HATE SPEECH, disguised as a radio show.

Thanks for the link, that one goes into the mix.. might be a good place to START this.

I'll research Board Members and contacts for Barnes and Noble, and CHEVY is another one that may need to be brought to task.

How many CARS do they NOT want to sell.

Many thanks!

But I'll Bookmark this thread and call upon folks when ready, in the meantime, don't hesitate to build a database of Sponsors and lists of those you might want to pass this on to..

I wrote to AARP after hearing they advertised on the Glenn Beck show. Look at their laughable response, to which I replied (most recent on top):

Dear Mr. or Ms. yyy: Thanks for your reply on behalf of AARP. You are relying on semantics rather than dealing with the substance of the issue.

Let's deal first with the semantics. According to various web dictionaries, "sponsor" means "to pay for radio or television programming by buying advertising time". Unless Glenn Beck's program is different from every other program on commercial television, it is paid for by advertising purchased by various organizations, including AARP. In only the narrowest of interpretations does it matter whether there is more than one such organization buying advertising time.

Now, let's deal with the substantive point. AARP should not run ads or in any other way support this program or similar programs, for the reasons stated in my April email. If it continues to do so, it will not attract people who share my views. We are an increasingly large part of AARP's target market. Thanks.

xxx

***

Dear xxx:

Thank you for your e-mail.

AARP DOES NOT sponsor the show. It was just an AARP ad that ran
during the program.

We hope this information is helpful.

77. That was the plan the last time
but we moved on to filming, and let the bastard slide.. One was to cut the sponsors, Two: then Get him OFF the Armed Forces Radio, or at least demand Air America be on there too (so the troops could have some balance), and then Three - to REINSTATE the Fairness Doctrine..

Of course these minidicks that send me their CODED hatemail (Moonbats, DemocRats, etc, etc.. their own little silly language that no one else gives a shit about) have no Idea that the Fairness Doctrine Involves THEM as well. Soon they'll be the RATS deserting the Sinking ship of the Bush FAILURE..

I think those are a good Three Mileposts to go by, something to Aim for.

Let's start with the BIGGIES - we need to vet the ones posted here, but they look familiar, he HAS changed some sponsors. Need to make sure that the ones who dropped him before haven't slipped back in as well.

More Hate Mail from the COWARDS that support the gasbag. The very same COWARD that is monitoring this thread is going to Put ME up as the "MoonBat of the Week" or month maybe, depending on if the other TWO DOrks stop by to read it - but of course the COWARD won't tell me WHERE he's posting the MOONBAT (stupid or what?) Comment. What are you afraid of Lurker?

What's it SMELL like, living between Limbaugh's CHEEKS?

FIRST - THE LIST, someone posted the list here, need folks we can trust to go through it. I'll make some calls too, see if they're valid. All they have to do is COP to being a "sponsor" of Limbaugh, that's good enough.. but remember the scam, "WE Don't SPONSOR Limbaugh - we just PAY HIM to Advertise on his Network" :)

Don't fall for it, seen it before. THEY KNOW.

WELCOME! They are threatening, it means they're SCARED.
