"The Real Stephen Colbert" Backstage Live & Uncut with John Kerry.....
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 12:53 PM by KoKo01

Comments from Conservative SC Humor Blog..."The Palmetto Scoop"

It saddens us to do have to do this, but we found a clip of Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert “out of character.” Colbert, who was raised in James Island and is probably the funniest man on television, is seen backstage with John Kerry before a taping of The Colbert Report - and it isn’t pretty.

It’s a harsh bit of reality for those of us who thought the man we saw on television - the guy who brought the house down at the 2006 White House Correspondent’s Dinner - was the REAL Stephen Colbert.

6. Why does this make you sad? Obviously, he plays an idiot.
Obviously, talk shows give guests a little prep, a little idea of what is going to be discussed.

And this video is very, very old, having been posted on TPM, a day or so after Kerry's appearance on the show.

Why is it wrong to say that being a conservative is being an idiot? Or is that website right wing?

Note to DeLay: Colbert is kidding
Posted 10:41 am | Printer Friendly | Spotlight

Silly me, I always thought it was fairly obvious that Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central’s Colbert Report was an over-the-top parody. Apparently, Tom DeLay isn’t in on the joke.

(Yesterday) morning, DeLay’s legal defense fund sent out a mass email criticizing the movie “The Big Buy: Tom DeLay’s Stolen Congress,” by “Outfoxed” creator Robert Greenwald.

The email features a “one-pager on the truth behind Liberal Hollywood’s the Big Buy,” and the lead item is Colbert’s interview with Greenwald on Comedy Central (where Colbert plays a faux-conservative, O’Reilly-esque character). <…>

DeLay thinks Colbert is so persuasive, he’s now featuring the full video of the interview at the top of the legal fund’s website. And why not? According to the email, Greenwald “crashed and burned” under the pressure of Colbert’s hard-hitting questions, like “Who hates America more, you or Michael Moore?”

8. Uh, are we all missing something here?
What did he do, or not do? I don't have a problem with any of it. As a matter of fact, I love how he talks to Kerry. In addition, I've rarely seen Senator Kerry as relaxed and friendly.

9. It should have been obvious that he is acting on the show.
Edited on Mon Jun-04-07 12:47 PM by AX10
He constantly is making sarcastic remarks.
His character is a characature. Personally, I don't find him funny. Jon Stewart is funny. He is more natural.

Colbert was a part of the Daily Show. He should have remained just that.
Now, how do we get Link TV into the homes of more Americans?

I don't see why you are so shocked to see that Colbert is not really and "idiot".

Also Colbert grew up in SC (James Island) so the local blog was taking a funny poke with their comments.
Many of their readers believe that Colbert IS CONSERVATIVE! :D

25. Their stupidity knows no bounds. It's funny because my just-turned-12-yr old son was watching...
The Colbert Report the other day during it's daytime re-run. I walked in, and I told him "you know that is satire, right? Stephen is one of us"... kid says "oh, of course! He's hilarious!".

Even a child can figure this out!

32. I have long been convinced that more than a few Rethugs
really thought Colbert was one of them or he would not have been invited to that Correspondents' dinner. They are still shocked that he mocked them big time.

But, if I am reading that right, these people are stupider than Bush...
Even Bush figured out that Colbert wasn't a real conservative. These idiots are in the same league as those Delay staffers who thought he was actually sympathetic to Delay.

35. Don't let them see his 60 Minutes interview then
Remember, the one where he said he doesn't even let his kids watch his show because he can't find a way to explain to them that everything he says on his show is a lie and not how he really thinks or feels? The moans they would make from watching that could be heard all over the planet!
